The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Or any Vegas bitcoiners out there?

Any Vegas bitcoin accepting shops ?  lol

I have a suggestion, provided there's at least 9 bitcoiners at one spot at the same time. Go to a casino that has a poker room and have them open up a table just for the bitcoiners. Don't laugh, for this is easy to do and a common practice in most any poker rooms.

During the course of the game, keep all your conversations related to Bitcoin, thus creating a buzz with each new dealer (they rotate every 30 minutes) and may even grab attention from the regulars and tourist. At the end of the dealers round, give him/her the URL to an Instawallet address, explaining to them that an extra tip resides there. After your session, don't forget to get a meal comp or discount from the poker room manager, along with a room discount for playing if you're staying at their resort.

If you need any more suggestions about Vegas, just ask me, for I've lived off those tables for years. Damn, now you made me miss Vegas, you bastard.

I'd like to tip a few people with some sort of bitcoin medium, something tangible would be nice, dont want them to think they are getting a shitty tip..

Keep talking.. I like this..

I'd like to tip a few people with some sort of bitcoin medium, something tangible would be nice, dont want them to think they are getting a shitty tip..

During the course of play during the dealers down, he's tipped accordingly after each deal. At the end of his down, all the players fire up their smartphone and send bitcents to the dealer's newly created Instawallet.

Here's where you could do something funny when the second dealer is done with his down. All the players are discussing opening what they're going to tip, something like below.

Player 1: I tipped the other dealer 1 bitcoin, but I'm only want to give this guy .945 bitcoins.
Player 2: I agree with your sentiment there, so I'm only giving .933 bitcoins.

and so on.

The fun part is watching the expression on the dealers face, for he's thinking he's getting short changed.

Anyone can go to Vegas to see the shows. But it's a lot more fun to create your own show. You can either spend $100 each to go see an hour and a half show, or tip that all out over the course of several hours as a group. Which one do you think has more value? Believe you me that if I were among you guys, we would have a big time. This idea of yours has the makings of becoming a nice impromptu meet-up. I believe there's a nice handfull of bitciners in California that would find any excuse to trek to Vegas.

Imagine the fun you could have with a panhandler. One person from the group gives him a $1 and a bottle of water to hold a Bitcoin sign. Every 5-10 minutes, another person from the group gets into a conversation with him about Bitcoin and gives him another dollar. This would work good in front of The Flamingo, by the bus stop. It's always busy there.

Or two people carry a Bitcoin logo flag on a stick walking towards each other. They purposely meet in front of a group of tourist and do a Monty Python type secret handshake.

Need I continue?

Playing the tables in Vegas = math tax  Tongue

There is plenty to do in Vegas, and DefCon has plenty going on at all hours.  If you're bored at DefCon, you're definitely doing it wrong!
I'll be there (10+ years).  Hopefully, there are others on the bitcointalkforum, also.  Shoot me a PM (same for any other DefCon attendees!) and we'll figure something out.  Failing that, just look for the guy with a bottle of sake at Hacker Jeopardy. Grin

I see the value of Bitcoin, so I don't worry about the price...

Sounds like a plan..

I'm no hacker, I'm wondering what there will be for me to do there. What kinda of hacking is this ?   consumer item hacking ?  Computer hacking ? internet hacking ?  all of it ?

I've been reading the Defcon forums..  not much on there..  Lockpicking village I could do being an ex locksmith (been a few years)

I can solder very well and know my electronics.   Any ideas ?

And it seems like walking around drinking at defcon is the thing to do ?  Is that what everyone does in vegas ?  public drinking there right ?

My friend im going with went to defcon quite a few years ago he says.. So I hope he knows what to expect.. I'd enjoy meeting some bitcoiners, will deff hunt you down and pm ya..

Now Bruno's ideas are hilarious and I'd like to see something like this happen.

I didn't even get to the part where you tape images of Rassah's coffee table on backs of tourist or ask Asians walking by if they've seen Satoshi Nakamoto.

Dress up as a panhandler, and dole out bitcents to passer-bys with smartphones. Or, if you prefer, dress up as a human faucet.

Las Vegas Local here. Regular Defcon attendee. I do the shoot too and will be a RSO again this year.

If you bastards dont seek me out and say hi, I'll be sad.

BTW, my kid won last year's DefconKids/NSA cryptokid challenge. Anyone else bringing their kid for defconkids? Perhaps we can get them to work on a project together? We've got some stuff in mind, but not sure how it will go this year.

Tell me more about both..

If me and my friend goto the shoot, what is required ? Gun license ? Guns ?
If you dont have either can you shoot ?

Tell me about the typical challenge ?  Im a complete virgin on what to expect at defcon

All you need for the shoot is some dough. There's a range fee and them you pay for your ammo. Lots of fellow nerds there to offer their firearms to shoot for free. Just walk up and say "can I shoot that?". There's ammo for sale either by the organiser or by people with their own guns. There's going to be two shoots this year because its hard for people to attend AND do their defcon things on the first day.

There's tons of events at defcon. you just have to look at what's available on the forums and focus on what you're interested in. Capture the flag, hardware hacking, lock picking, etc.

The easiest thing to expect from a defcon experience is getting owned. somehow, some way. lol.

My kid just said they'd be willing to accept bitcoins at the booth for ammo and such. I might be able to make this happen. We'll have to go out to the range and check internet connectivity.

I also live in Vegas, but I'll probably still be too sick in July... it all depends on how much progress I can make in terms of getting over my illness between now and then.

But if I'm well enough I'll try to meet up for sure!

Bitcoin for anything out there would be a real kick..   Ill pay bitcoins to shoot guns for sure Smiley

This could get interesting..  Grin

Im pretty sure we could make the Thursday morning one..

Arriving on wed. makes the other hard...

Yea, for being a hacker, he's not "up to speed" on bitcoin so shitpal is his only method of payment. renting a lane without a gun is expected.. there will be plenty to "borrow" and shoot. That's the idea of this event - expose people who come from places that do not have the luxury of their own firearms to get some exposure. Plenty of RSOs (like me) to keep it safe.
