There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

This thing is going to cost an arm and a leg! But super high density is good only if you're really limited to space.

Just like the 6990 then. Although an axial fan instead of a radial one.

Yeah, that card they have pictured has got to be the shortest dual-GPU card I've ever seen.  Barely the length of two PCIe slots.

Exactly here is the real pic.

Supposedly the extended length improves cooling performance.

Still I think AMD might have gone overboard, it is going to require an extended case.

Is the only benefit of a 7990 space/slots? Because 7970s are $400. Am I missing something?

Also, why the hell are 5970s so expensive?

Right. The 7990 is hard to justify at $1k even when you factor in the slot savings. From all reviews I've read it also seems to perform similarly to 2x7950 as well.
