Shorts on BitFinex has increased to 7000 BTC.  What if Wall Street has finally arrived, and they are trading on the dark side!

If Wall Street arrived and only brought ~$3.4M to the table, bitcoin is truly doomed.

Agreed. Smart money is going into shorting this market, which required more than $1.5 mlliions EACH DAY to maintain price.

If Wall Street crashes, it'll be bailed out by the taxpayers once more.

So you should rephrase that to: "Buy Bitcoin, crash the taxpayers!"

In the end to short sell you have to either: 1) have bitcoin available to short sell or 2) be able to borrow bitcoin from someone to short sell.

This is very different from standard Wall Street operations where they simply create paper out of air and sell that. (i.e. gold futures)

I seriously doubt it but it is at least fun to read something different on this board than random up and down posts.

I don't think there is enough money in destroying bitcoin yet to gain attention from Wall Street.  Now a few years from now, if things go well, then sure.
