I just noticed that there is a new wallet and needed an update,
my wallet is stuck on block 1014 sync left.

Will it catch up or do i need to delete the index file and let sync from the beginning?

Hi there, yeah I have had a couple have this issue and yes I would suggest either re-downloading the chain or I actually uploaded the blocks for someone else yesterday so you are welcome to grab them too to save some time.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/dby945030k82vv2/blocks.7z

Let me know how you get on Smiley

I re-downloaded the block chain now it is stuck at 1604

Yeah it can stall sometimes, that's pretty normal, you have to give it some time... Either that or get the blocks I linked to up there.

I would also maybe get a new download for your wallet just to make sure you have the latest.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Hmmm they did update, so that is weird, I'm testing now myself but it should be up and running just fine I have tested withdrawals from there the other day, after the fork... Are you using the current wallet? 2.3.0 or above?

EDIT: I can confirm that my test payment to cryptsy worked, received and confirmed. It can only be a couple of things, perhaps blocks were a bit stuck when you sent or you are on the wrong chain.

Hmmmm that seems like something you'll need to raise with multipool.us to be honest, do you have a transaction id for the payout? I can take a look at that, it is possible the pool is not on the right chain.

Can you post a guide here and also on the netcoinfoundation website that shows people exactly what to do when upgrading wallets and how to install and how to add in the blocks?  I think that would be very beneficial.

I bought some NET from Cryptsy yesterday and successfully received them to my wallet.

While writing this my wallet says:

"blocks" : 532763

So our block count is high up there.  You can verify you are on the right chain when you match the block number with the official Netcoin explorer:

http://explorer.netcoinfoundation.org

There was a lot of orphan blocks after the hard fork because a lot of people didn't update their wallets.  So it might take you a couple of blockchain redownloads before you finally get on the official chain.

Thanks to the devs.  I love PoS with NET.  It was also smart to keep POW too.  A lot of POS coins get "stuck" sometimes, so having POW keep the chain alive was a brilliant move.

Hi there, sorry been busy getting the syncing issue fixed... Bad news I'm afraid, I checked your transactions and it would seem the last 2 transactions are not showing up on the blockchain Sad It would appear that multipool.us has not updated. They were informed prior to the update. Unfortunately we can't force them to do it and I'm sure it's an oversight on their part... In the meantime you can mine Netcoin

http://pool.netcoinfoundation.org/ (Direct only)

http://net.coin-server.com/ (Multipool that pays out NET, sha256, scrypt, X11 + Direct mining)

I would still contact multipool.us and let them know.

Thank you very much Smiley We try our best and there is a hell of a lot of work to get through but getting there now.

As for the syncing issue that has now been resolved, just needed a checkpoint after the fork and we're good to go, I have updated the windows wallet and will get to the linux one now. Another team member is in the middle of updating the mac wallet as we speak also.

Again thank you for your kind words and support. Smiley

EDIT: Mac wallet is up just building the linux qt now

EDIT: Linux wallet has been built now too, jobs a gooden Smiley

Ey up I have just started with netcoin just before the wallet swap, I wasnt sure if it was a fresh install or just an update if you know what I mean, so any way I did a fresh install but now whenever I go to open the wallet the first attempt always fails then the second attempt it opens no problems but its stuck at  block 530105. I tried emptying the netcoin folder just leaving my wallet.dat but still the same' any ideas  Huh PS, wallet version 2.3

Resent update to 2.3.1.0 fixes this issue of crashing.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/dby945030k82vv2/blocks.7z if you can't sync. Delete your peers. You may need to run a walletrepair command from the debug window.

Exactly how/where do I place this folder once I unzip it?

Do I have to delete anything before downloading/installing it?

Your computer already holds files like blk0001.dat for Netcoin. Find them. They are usually in the AppData folder under Netcoin in Windows

That's what you'll be replacing with these new files.

Make sure you do it while the wallet is not running.

Hi there, sorry this is no longer relevant, you should now just be able to grab a new client (even if you have a new one) and re-download the blocks, but I suppose in any case you will need to go into this folder anyway to delete the blocks. If you are not familiar with doing this let me just say first of all to be very careful, this folder contains your wallet.dat which holds a record of your coins. So here is a quick guide for windows.

Backup your wallet.dat before you begin and close down your wallet...

1. Start button (bottom left on windows)
2. type in %appdata% this will bring up your roaming folder, select that.
3. look for the NetCoin folder, inside you should see a bunch of files including your wallet.dat.
4. Delete everything in that folder EXCEPT your wallet.dat... DO NOT DELETE YOUR WALLET.DAT
5. You then have a choice, you can put in the files you downloaded or you can just run the client and download them. The first option will have you synced much faster.

I hope this helps if you are not sure about anything at all, don't do anything. Come back here and we'll clarify for you.

Let me know how it goes.

On another note, people I wanted to let you guys know about another service that has opened up for Netcoin (as well as a few other POS coins)... A POS pool... For a limited time the owner is offering an early bird special... Where you will get reduced fees if you sign up now.

You can find out more info in the pool owners thread here...

http://forum.netcoinfoundation.org/thread/796/first-multi-coin-staking-pool

It sounds like a great option for smaller investors, basically if this pool reaches the 10 million Netcoin mark then you will all be getting 100% yearly rate.

You can also invest with various other crypto currencies, including BTC... In which case the pool op will obtain the coins for you at the best possible price to save you the hassle. It certainly seems like a great idea to me. Smiley

Also to note that work has already begun on the next wallet upgrade (don't worry no hard fork) this one should be a really nice step forwards. As we always say we're always looking to improve and drive thing forwards. so far we're happy with the improvements seen in POS block times, everyone should now be finding they stake much faster than before.

Btw we might be doing a competition soon for the best theme created by you guys, so if any of you are into having a little play around with that you could win yourselves some NET!
