The new UI, which is based on HMTL5 technology, will be released later this week for both desktop and mobile (ShadowGo) with ShadowLite support. We wanted to get the bloom filters (which are required for proper working of the lite wallets) in place for the full nodes.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates this week!

"This week" is now over in South Africa (where dev is located) and we dont have a new UI. How much longer should we expect to wait?

What was the exciting update we were supposed to be waiting for?

No its not, jeez man ADD much.

Yes the week is over. Look at any Calendar. Each week ends on Saturday and begins on Sunday. It is Sunday now where the dev lives.

You do realize we are building technology at the edge of what is thought possible right now? We are creating tech that noone has ever created before, the PoS Lite wallet as example. We also pride ourselves of releasing actual tech that works and does as it's supposed to.

Stop ADDing. See us as the Blizzard of Crypto. We make awesome stuff and it'll be ready when it's ready.

Also, Ryno has been releasing things on an EST time frame or US based. They always seem to release in the evening for USA. Therefore its still only saturday, and sunday is 24 hours long.

Thanks. Sorry for being impatient. I love the tech so far. I was just reading more about zk snarks and am really liking the idea!

I do have one question about zk-snarks. Will it be trustless or not?

https://eprint.iacr.org/2013/879.pdf

From page 4:

"As in any non-interactive zero-knowledge proof, a zk-SNARK requires a one-time trusted setup of public parameters: a key generator samples a proving key (used to generate proofs) and a verification key (used to check proofs). However, current zk-SNARK implementations [PGHR13, BCGTV13a] require the setup phase to depend on the program F, which is hard-coded in the keys. Key generation is costly (quasilinear in F’s runtime) and is thus difficult to amortize if conducted anew for each program. More importantly, per-program key generation requires, for each new choice of program, a trusted party’s help."

It's really not that crazy. Moolah has a long history of announcing ambitious release/deployment dates only to continuously push back their releases/deployments when "unexpected issues" come up at the last minute. I've been paying attention to the company since day 1 and I honestly do not recall the company ever releasing/deploying something on the first announced date.

I and countless others have suggested that they do not even bother announcing release/deployment dates until they are 100% sure everything is set, but obviously they do not listen. It's now a bit like "crying wolf". They say it'll be ready on Tuesday, but after two delays I won't be holding my breath.

Is everyone aware of what a major step the new GUI is for crypto? Let me connect the dots for anyone that can't read between the lines.

The new GUI is not just a graphical update, but a complete rewrite and design of Shadow's framework. The first step was the SPV (ShadowLite) system which allows for lighting quick syncing to the blockchain, while still securing the PoS network. The GUI release is an entirely modular HTML5/CSS3 wallet written in C++.

Some of you might be thinking to yourselves "WTF does that mean?"

Answer: This opens up a new door for privacy-based zero knowledge application development and redefines the meaning of a cryptocurrency wallet. The new wallet has the potential to function more like a decentralized version of Steam, Chrome Web Store, Google Play or Apple's App store with it's own financial layer (ShadowCash). Developers will be able to design and build privacy-based plugins like apps or games that run right on the Shadow wallet.

Again some of you might be asking "WTF does this mean?"

Answer: This introduces an entirely new element to the ecosystem where devs or entrepreneurs can sell their work for Shadow or introduce in-app purchases that use Shadow. Also with the built-in messaging system (ShadowChat) this makes the ecosystem even more functional. Access to a future ShadowChat API will permit that functionality inside of their apps or games.

For example: In a Shadow poker application, users will not only be able to bet against one another, but also chat directly inside of the poker room. The developer might even sell the poker app for SDC or introduce fee based structures where the Poker app makes a % of the wins etc.

The release of the new lite wallet functionality and GUI are major cornerstones for Shadow. The next phase for the wallet is optimizing Shadow's API and documenting it for new devs and entrepreneurs. Designing the next generation of zero knowledge privacy applications will require proper documentation. After the zero knowledge and ShadowChat updates are released, it'll free up time for that. Eventually, what you'll see are Core applications like ShadowChat built by the Shadow team and community applications like the sample Poker app. Similar to Facebook core apps like messenger and Facebook developer apps like FarmVille.

Answer: This introduces and entirely new element to the ecosystem where devs or entrepreneurs can sell their work for Shadow or introduce in-app purchases that use Shadow.

Well said.

Thanks for this post! The concrete examples give a much clearer picture of where the project's heading. This is fantastically exciting stuff!

Indeed, this is exactly what i meant before. We are pushing the boundaries, so if delays happen that is because of us pushing those boundaries!
