It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Ok Og,I checked out this link and it's still invite only. When I enter my email,it already says that's in use. So it's not even open to me. I'm actally looking for a member on these forums who once offered this service. I've never recieved any beta invites for gpumax from several months ago so I can't really trust it in this case.

Ya, I wasn't going to debate the insanity of his request.  Just thought I'd show him where he can buy a contract.

Hmm.I'm simply looking for the person who once offered this type of service before. I remember seeing a service offered that offered a fair number of shares for a reasonable price (so I thought). I'm simply looking for the person who once offered what I was looking for (but then disapeared I think). I need someone who can (actually) help me look for the forum member who offered something I once remember seeing ok or close to that. That is all.

If anyone is offering you that, it is a scam.  It is like me saying that I will sell you a $20 bill for $0.50.

Sounds like I may have been had.Either case, thank you guys. I did wonder why he disappeared after that 'offer' was here? But anyhow it may have been a scammer. Looks like case closed for finding the guy. Question is now:how do I find out the value of a share? Also who are the more reputable players in the mining contracts and still get a good deal with a flexible time slot?

Like I'm looking for a certain number of shares for a set price or something along those lines anyway.

It wasn't A1 bitcoinpool that made that offer. Also what is that (as I'm not aware of this pool/proxy)?

A1bitcoinpool was a mining pool that  paid a premium for shares, mined a couple of blocks, got "hacked", disappeared for a bit, came back and disappeared again.

IIRC the block payments and shares ended up being paid out by someone who stepped in to help.

If you look in the mining pools topic you'll find information from around late January/February this year.

Sorry to necro, but here is the link to the resolving thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=66387.0

It's an ongoing case. I've been contacted recently regarding repayment, too, so it might be resolved at some point. I just wanted to note that here as I intend to make sure his name is fully cleared on all relevant threads in case of repayment.
