With the release of Zcash and the huge investment it will get from people who don't realize its a huge scheme cooked up by the Mossad or NSA or something,
I expect Monero to lose both volume and value for a bit.

Hopefully people wake up and realize that Zcash is seriously flawed and very likely nefarious,
and move back to Monero,
but people are fucking retarded.

Retarded is right, zcash futures reached something like 1.7 or 1.8 BTC per....

first trade on Polo was  .0001 ZEC @ 2500 BTC  Cheesy
ROFLMAO!! Paying .25BTC just to totally fuck with the chart !!

50 BTC volume at price over 300 BTC.

you need to understand that today will be only 200 ZEC mined. with such interest from crypto peps, price will be high and fall over next months. Probably same as STEEM had and still have.

The problem with ZEC is there is very few coins and hardly nobody dumps, that's exactly what I would like to see also within Monero. The number of coins in exchange being almost 0 and a lot of eagerness to get some coins.
Bear in mind, the volumes are so low that the price is irrelevant.

I totally get both points  Wink
And I still think someone is trying to make a mockery of this launch intentionally  Tongue

EDIT: Volume not so low now TC, but price is definitely arbitrary. Traders doing what traders do ...
When the music stops it's gonna make XMR bagholding look like a walk in the park Cheesy

It is happening right now live. And is crypto, so also relate to Monero. I am sure it will bring lots new people in crypto and altcoins. Same as Ethereum did.

There is a very good chance that ZEC will fall below 1 XMR before December 31, 2017 23:59 UTC.

I posted this in the ZCash speculation thread. As for my rationale just take a look at XMR/XBT in 2014, in particular the the 0.01111 XBT high. It basically comes down to the combination of low initial supply and very high initial inflation. In this case the situation has been made far worse by the marketing campaign and anticipation created with the investor funds.

This is actually creating a really unique situation.
Almost EVERY coin on Poloniex is down, some in the double digits.
This is a great time to scoop up some cheap coins while idiots are staring at the sun.

Yes. I agree this has created the opportunity for bargain hunting on Poloniex. What is interesting the high volume at these prices, over 2000 XBT. This could actually set the state for a really brutal bear market in ZEC. The more crazy this becomes the more brutal the resulting bear market. In any case the bears have already feasted well with a drop from ~2500 XBT to around ~30 XBT.

And what about XMR capitulation ?

It's still WAY above where it was when most of us bought it... You're new here, wait, watch and learn a little?

And when zcash ends in profuse tears, most people will realise what private money is worth and where to buy it for less than 3000 BTC a pop ;-)

i closed my short way too early(at 0.01) totally did not expect a horrible drop like this, missed the re-shorting opportunity at 0.0094 and gave up the final short i did for a tiny profit again at 0.0089

I really did not expect xmr to do this bad, i am actually surprised. At least i refrained from buying this shit and i unlike most people in this thread now have more money than i started with(due to btc increase).

My short term outlook is negative. There is a somewhat likely scenario that XMR does not have positive news, 0.01 is tested and fails, and BTC continues to look good.

In this case, nothing is preventing testing 0.004. That one will hold Smiley

Risto,

Can you clarify "XMR does not have positive news"? Is the bad news that XMR is in a downward trend looking for its floor or is the bad news more sinister such a security breach or major delay in releasing new code?

I agree that I see no reason for XMR to not drop back to 0.004.

Thanks,

This 'bad'?  Jeez - we are way up from a couple of months ago. Just because you are late to the party, please don't use your distorted perspective rule your head.  XMR is better than zcash, so once the hype is over - where do you think the money will look to go?

Sell, by all means, if you're scared - but some of us have been here a little longer than you and we know what will happen by next spring.  Do you want to be at the party, or cursing on the side lines?

It's a long game. Don't panic. Not yet.  Unless you really think zcash is WORTH 3000 BTC...

Thanks,

I don't think he implied any "bad news", rather that there may be a short term lack of "good news" - you know, stuff that makes people with short attention span buy and then post the news links in the trollbox.

Personally I disagree, there is so much good news that could happen any day.

While I like seeing the price of XMR rise as much as anyone, I would rather see the price fall in line with real value, then appreciate in line with reality. I know that is wishful thinking in the hysterical world of crypto. So the question begs... what is the real value of XMR? And I am sure everyone has a few different answers.

I am only concerned with the price of XMR from a buying point of view. I increased my holdings substantially as the price has been pulling back, having met my short term acquisition target, I am wondering if the best strategy is to withdraw buy orders and wait for the price to settle. I would not mind buying XMR at a 50% discount.

In the mid-term... next 2 years... I hope that XMR achieves price stability which will make XMR much more attractive as hedge and long-term storage of value.

The real question is, how profitable is for bag holders ( devs ) to dump the coin that low and scare away investors and buyers/sellers ?

The price is currently recovering from its loss and I think there might be some correction if a dump is actually going to be done...
A coin is not just for bagholders, but yeah, the darknet guys are now into getting their money in their fiat which is why it is obvious that they would sell XMR for Bitcoins...
