Last week, we welcomed Zcash to the coin family on Circle Invest. Today, we continue to grow our coin collection by supporting Monero as our new listed crypto asset. This brings our investable crypto assets to a total of 7 coins, making Circle Invest one of the only platforms you can invest instantly and seamlessly in the widest breadth of coins by using your bank account. https://blog.circle.com/2018/05/07/circle-invest-welcomes-monero/

That was obvious. Why would they want that some competitor check all their past transactions. GoldmanSachs cant use transparent ledger blockchains.

Circle's Monero onramp is about the biggest news for the adoption of the currency as I can remember. And I kinda go back a ways... I think the price action right now considering this is a real sleeper. Very typical of XMR. No worries though. Price action is fickle and fairly meaningless in the short term...

That app is terrible, way way worse than coinbase. I don't expect it to be a large fiat channel, because it hides fees in higher prices and lacks withdraw/deposit features. Hopefully they realize their stupidity and employ properly their VC money.

The fact that Circle thinks that offering Monero does not infringe upon its BitLicense, is very positive news for Monero. At the very least, it removes (at least in theory) yet another obstacle toward Coinbase adoption. After all, if Kraken can offer it on its exchange without legal hindrance and Circle can offer it without BitLicense problems, what other objections can there be?

I held Monero some time after the dark markets announcements, but it does feel surreal to have someone like Circle take Monero on. XMR as usual doesn't seem to react much to these types of centralized markets. When Japanese exchanges dropped privacy coins, XMR didn't fall. I personally think that's good news for XMR, though. Typical, like you said, and in the big picture, meaningless.

Interesting view. Circle's Monero onramp for sure is important and such chance for adoption things usually move price, not the tech improvements, but it seems not in Monero anymore. Altho you cant move your bought XMR from Circle, it will still help people buy Monero for speculative reasons. At crypto fewer times like late last years most people do exactly that. So this is a really important event for the next Bitcoin ATH when new hordes of speculators will try to buy their share of crypto heaven. Yes would be nice if we would have Monero on Coinbase until then.

Typical, like you said, and in the big picture, meaningless. Idk why people are so surprised by this. Circle owns Polo. It makes sense for them to add their top traded/established coins. This app allows for investing on paper of certain cryptos - at a fee. You can't deposit and you can't withdrawal the cryptos. Its use is limited to speculation. Feels like I'd almost be funding their bankroll or at the very least paying someone for an IOU. Granted - it is still great news for xmr and crypto adoption. It raises awareness and I'm sure helps people get started. I am excited for this news. But at the same time for XMR - I want to see more people use the currency. Growth through daily transactions is what gets me going

I will say my enthusiasm for the Circle deal was somewhat dampened when I figured out you could not (yet?) deposit and withdraw. But I am hoping that is on the roadmap... have heard rumors it is.

Otherwise what's the point of that addition! I don't like when things are announced but the actual product is not on the way. Sounds fishy in terms of price speculation before an inevitable...boom

But you cant then withdraw coins but only you can sell them and withdraw USD after you earned on crypto bull run. That is what Circle is offering. This is sort of not a crypto economy that Satoshi had in mind, but I guess it is inevitable that banks will invent all kinds of things to earn on crypto but still not let it be fully decentralized. All centralized exchanges are sort of same, just one step further. Eventually both will extinct.

Yes, quite amazing news, maybe in the next 10-15 years we get a Treasury Secretary in the USA from usual Goldman suspects who is currently working on crypto markets via Circle today, quite a thought, but very possible. How things have changed, great for monero to have these new powerful friends lol

Yes but I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. I'm not interested in the game personally - In my kind of business I just don't have time to play games. It is a big disappointment but not the end of the world. I just need a functioning anonymous coin that can handle big volume. So far so good, but the devs need to get their GUI sorted ASAP otherwise I'm out too.

In any case, whatever one wants to put it if one cannot buy, sell and hold those coins I see really no point in using Circle. I can do that differently without having to rely on a third party
