When XMR breaks the ATH what do you guys think is likely to happen?

Is it likely to continue on upwards or dumps to buy back cheaper?
Or do the whales simply decide how high it goes?

Usually after new ATH price dont go under last ATH. So should stay over 0.022.

I do not recall when I have seen such a Monero shortage in the lending markets. Looks like there are massive short positions built. If the margin calls hit us, the price will go to incredible heights. On the other hand, if there is a huge dump, there are takers to it (covering of the short positions).
Interesting to watch where are we heading. Personally I do not care much but I still have my popcorns and diet Coke ready for the show.

Real men drink normal coke... Are you on a diet or something?  Grin

Have you paid attention on the fact that it is the fat people that drink diet coke only.

That being said, I prefer diet also because the regular coke do not make me feel young again but just tired.

Yes, the amusing part is seeing  people waddle into KFC or McDonald's and order practically the entire menu and a diet coke to wash it down.....

The mind boggles sometimes...  Cheesy

Any difference with Mexican Coca-Cola (cane sugar instead of HFCS)? Curious.

You can definitely tell the difference in taste.
I had a Mexican Coca-Cola recently and it was delicious. Much better than the high-fructose corn syrup used in the American drink.

As for the price of Monero, I'm glad to see us back around the price of Ethereum.
I'm not sure we will get back to the 0.02 price level right away, but it may happen eventually.
Now might be a good time to invest in XMR actually.

I don't see any reason why people would pull out of Monero except to make a quick buck. It's a strong cryptocurrency in what it achieves for the consumer, so far there is nothing like it, from what I can see.

Check out http://dietdoctor.com and read "The Obesity Code" by Jason Fung and "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes. Basically sugar (including artificial sweeteners) and carbs are addictive and disrupt both brain mechanisms regulating appetite "set point" and hormonal systems regulating fat deposition.

A friend is finally pulling the trigger on buying some bitcoin but also wants to buy monero "to get in on the ground floor of something." I suggested 90% btc, 10% xmr; he wants 50% each. This is the first person in my circle of real-life acquaintances who is buying xmr.

I think it was Aminorex who suggested that out of the "cryptocurrency allocation", it makes sense to buy

* 50% of $100 bills
* 50% of XMR.

Instead of the 90% BTC / 10% XMR that you are suggesting.

In my real life circle people who are the type of people want to buy crypto thinks btc train has left the station but they are buying Monero (a few of them have done so already).
Bitcoin probably have potential to go to a few thousand of dollars and that is approximately 10 X R.O.I. while Monero has chance to reach parity with btc - and go even beyond that when the supply vs. demand intermediation says so (we saw this happening with Zcash so why not also with XMR).

I think it is prudent to waite to which level Zcash will settle and then buy some. I am pretty confident it will be valuable as well - it might even gain official currency status somewhere. The stength of Zcash is its community. Only the super pumped price prevents me from buying some.

For Monero, it is a currency for everyday people and probably chosen by drug dealers and drug addicts. Monero is a decent currency but I am afraid the Zcash has done things better. No, tech is not the most important thing and as we can see from the current system, Zcash type of solution with the brightest minds probably in the world + supposedly a lot of money backing is a way to success, but as I said, personally I would waite until the price settles somewhere and not to go all in. Buying just some in case of it will overtake Monero.

Somebody asked about the GUI, it will probably not be released any time soon (might be that the developers need to rebuy before the release).

He has been flip flopping back an forth talking his book ever since he joined this thread, he was way more obnoxious in the beginning switching sentiment very often.

I see. As I am new since a few months ago I truly believed he was 100% for Monero. I was baffled at his latest post to be honest haha.

I am not 100 % for Monero.. I have been repeating it over and over again.
I have relatively diversified portfolio in general, not even close 100 % in XMR and as I have said it earlier it is stupid to invest in one asset class (unless you are a gambler and love taking risk even if you lose).
I think the future of Monero is still good with or without official GUI. The webwallet is decent and easy enough to use + you do not need to download anything to your desktop.

I am not flip flopping and I do not recommend to sell on the bottom, some of my bids are still untouched and most likely the majority will not be taken because that requires quite extreme volatility.

That being said, I have told long long time ago that I am interested in Z-cash and I see their strengths. I think Monero serves a niche (junkies, criminals and other DNM clients and vendors + enthusiasts).
Z-cash most likely might be the choice for official currency like fiat is nowdays.
I think both Monero and Z-cash can coexists and I am considering investing a small amount of money (1-2 btc) into it in case it will become great.
The problem is the Zcash is waaaay over valued and I think the realist price for me to get in is around the same I got into XMR (0.00255 which is the break even price I have bought my Moneros).

So guys do you think it is smart to diversify some bitcoins also to Zcash when the inflation start hitting?

Personally I am a little interested in this because I find it a good investment if I can get it for fair price. Why I think it is good investment? The reason: it has probably the brightest minds in the world in its team (in case Mossad is involved). Also as there are involvement of Jews so money should not be the problem..  Cheesy

I am also factoring in the effect on our friendship if the volatility is too high for him to tolerate. The "no one ever got fired for recommending IBM" effect.

You recall correctly, N-rg sock puppet / alias.  But this person is not the sort to agree a deal, take the money and honour it.

<Jaquee> We've made great progress last couple of weeks. A lot of great contributions and inputs from new people. Great to see!
<Jaquee> All critical issues i know of are fixed and we have a very good looking, working gui with all basic functionality in place.
<Jaquee> I believe next step is building binaries to make it possible for more people to test it
<@fluffypony> ok
<Jaquee> Since the 0.10 daemon isnt compatible with gui we also need to make sure we have a working monerod build to release with the gui.
<@fluffypony> we'll try couple that with a new 0.10 point release
<Jaquee> sounds good
<@fluffypony> so it will take a couple of days to wrap up a point release too
<Jaquee> ok. makes sense

<Jaquee> vertp: me and ilya are more or less frozen for the moment. Tongue
<Jaquee> as in agreed on that current version can be released as beta

Polo buy side up to 4000 BTC and sell side is sub 300K XMR....

Unusual.  It looks bullish, but volume dropping and it doesn't look like a solid breakout. Yet.

TA freaks welcome to comment, of course.  I am wondering what it means.
