WARNING TO ALL POOL OPERATORS/INVESTORS

The upcoming fork will make ALL previous daemon versions obsolete.
ETH-like disaster in the making. One client. Many bugs. Scroll through #monero-devs  chat logs for proof.

Censorship on #monero-devs , question dev work and get banned.

Wouldn't the pool operators simply upgrade their clients with maybe a little downtime?

May I ask what the "ETH-like disaster" is?

Thanks.

Look at this pull request:  https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/1437

Looks like the point release/GUI is imminent.

It's pretty obvious that he miscalculated, and is out. Let's watch him struggle to keep the price down.

So do you guys think Jaxx having Monero integration is enough to push up the price, or do we need to wait for an "official" wallet to really raise the price?
(Or are we already priced-in to the anticipation of a wallet?)
I've never used Jaxx wallet and I'm wondering if anyone has extensive experience with it, and if adding a GUI will prompt more places to accept Monero.
(Which is all I think we really need to break the $10 price point.)

I think Jaxx gave up. Scuttlebutt is they wanted the XMR devs to write it for them.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Smiley

Saw that from Jaxx's twitter, was posted 10 hours ago:

@LunaGoons Yes! We're working very hard on the #XMR integration!

Jaxx will never gave up. They are a company.  But they will try to get everything as cheap as possible if not free.

v0.10.1 point release up on Github. According to the latest dev meeting logs, this was the only thing holding back the GUI.

This is a mandatory upgrade that is required for the hard fork that is scheduled for January 05, 2017 and also for the GUI. Thanks.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

What Monero really needs is more acceptance among the drug dealers and merchants in the darknet. How is the situation of XMR at Alphabay? The last time I checked, someone said that XMR use is not increasing. In fact it is decreasing because some of the merchants have stopped accepting it. Let us hope that this new upgrade will make both buyers and sellers start doing payment experiments with Monero.

If they start doing that the next question would be, will they start using it also as a store of value or will they convert immediately to bitcoin?

I disagree that DNM usage is what is *really needed*. All usage is good, but DNM users have so many (arguably more important) OPSEC vectors to close that their choice of currency is just one of these factors.

Instead, I predict a possible big usage of Monero could be in crypto locker ransoms. There have been reports of people running these operations being traced via their acceptance of BTC. (can't find source offhand but I've seen it somewhere). These operators are leaking the most data through their usage of BTC so it would stand that they benefit the most from closing up that gap.

DNM use depends on low volatility and proper ways to get the coins traded into real value. This means: The adaptation will be slow and steady or not at all.
