Monero probably isn't going to be added to Coinbase anytime soon.
I was listening to a talk from Charlie Lee (who works at Coinbase). He was talking about LTC and the potential of getting it added to Coinbase. Anyway, he mentioned that LTC volume on GDAX (exchange owned by Coinbase) has to be consistently high enough before Coinbase would consider adding LTC.
Monero isn't even listed on GDAX. That will probably have to be the first step.
Why does Coinbase only list coins that have high volume on GDAX? Cause they don't want to rely on / go to a 3rd party exchange to source their coins.
Not sure what you are talking about. Litecoin is on Coinbase as well as GDAX. Maybe it was added to GDAX first, but it doesn't really matter. If you create a Coinbase account, you automatically have a GDAX account with same banking info for funding. Only difference is GDAX operates more like a Poloniex type exchange - you place bids and asks, while Coinbase gives you a simpler interface / flat rate based on total being sold or bought. And Coinbase has higher fees. So maybe they listed it on GDAX first until they had enough volume to be able to manage the Coinbase flat rate. But, regardless, listing on GDAX would be incredible news and open an easy dollar purchase option for all Coinbase / GDAX clients. Still, I'm skeptical of it happening anytime soon, given their IRS litigation.

Monero surging to $54. It also looks like a decent amount of darknet markets could switch to monero. With lower fees and being anonymous, I see monero booming.

So, why the sudden pump now? A reaction to the announcement that the Polo wallets would be back up?

I saw on reddit some announcement about more DNM's integrating XMR, but IDK if it's the reason or not...

I memeber that day when XMR hit 0.025 there was more than 150k XMR available on lending market (just few weeks ago). Then next day, just a minute after the big dump deep below 0.02 I've checked again and there was around 100k XMR missing from there (around 60k XMR only). Now I would actually like to see more coins on lending market because it adds up to XMR liquidity, but current shortage (only 35k atm) probably comes from the lack of confidence in holding too many coins on Poloniex cos they had to many issues over past few months. Right now there are 44k traders online, back in 2016 there was below 10k users online, now if you let 100 people jump in the bus made for 50 people - you get a broken bus full of pissed off people That's whats happening to Poloniex right now, and could be the main reason for lack in liquidity and increased volatility in all markets there, not only XMR.

Not unless he dumped that xmr thats stuck on polo which i doubt. He doesn't pay his bills so apparently he doesn't have any BTC to pump shit. Except Coinbase is totally fucked right now. I would advise anyone to not use their service. If you have any issue with your account you will be waiting weeks or months for a response from support. They are too busy spending money on facebook ads to hire personnel or make improvements to the website/ backend. (Website was down several times yesterday.) Maybe things will improve in the coming months but for now Monero doesn't need them to be successful. Its way undervalued and if you don't own some of these coins in a few years you are going to regret it. I would be very surprised if XMR wasn't $100 by this time next year. Monero is the GNU Linux of the Crypto world. It doesn't need ads or corporate sponsors. Hard work and good code will prevail over time. This is a long-term project.
At some point coinbase had 50000 new accounts made per day. So I am sure that times were hectic. I woudl expect that on any exchange actually. But those most popular have biggest activity spikes. One of those is also Poloniex. If it will go like this we will see soon constantly over 100k people online on Poloniex. And this soon might happen really soon if Bitcoin will keep getting new ATHs. About Monero, I said long long time ago that when price reach $50 I will sell 10% of my Moneros and when price doubles so is $100 another 10% and at $200 next 10%. Now price reach $50 two times in almost a week and I classically did nothing What should I buy for that 10% BTC? Gold? Chilean farming land? Sell and buy me a long position. Closed my long yesterday @ 0.01717. Fuk (little amount anyway) At least what I bought in the .019's is good now.

Sell and buy me a long position. Closed my long yesterday @ 0.01717. Fuk (little amount anyway) At least what I bought in the .019's is good now. Dude you are just outsmarting yourself. I can think of maybe one person who has done better by dumping on highs and scooping on lows (TheKoziTwo) without resorting to pump and dump scamming. Everyone else who gets rich on this stuff without being evil does it by picking a technically and economically sound coin with good community, and accumulating on lows. I confess that I have done well on market making, but that is just nickel and dime stuff compared to the absurd returns on my buy-and-hold cold storage position. I gave up on timing the market for the most part quite a while ago, and I very certainly do not regret that capitulation. Maybe someday, when xmr is within an order of magnitude of it's long-term fundamental (Fisher's law) value, and the jumps are less biased to the upside, there will be more opportunity to extract technical alpha, but we are not even close to that level yet. Just get as much as you can reliably hold for the long term. Don't load yourself up with regrets by trying to time events which are so difficult to model. You just have to be in when the magic happens, over and over again. Any time spent out just makes it more certain that you will miss out on the upward leaps.

W0rd, I can't convert any fiat as I hate the bubble BTC is in and think alot of people are gonna get burned. I really cannot justify buying it right now. So I'm just making a little here and there when I think a swing is gonna happen but your right that that is playing with fire and has a chance of missing a spike. I'm just margining so that I don't get caught out if it spikes. But I only shorted once a few days back and monitored it closely, almost closed with a loss but stuck it out. I have so little that I can afford to lose it.
