Anyone think we will see the year out above $250usd?
me.

i think it will go 300s until end of 2018.

they have good events and important updates on their roadmaps 4th 2018.

be patience and hodl xmr

It can go to $300 before end of this month. Price changed that much in 2 weeks so many times in past. Is silly to think that suddenly will not do it anymore.

doubling or tripling in a week or two has numerous precedents.  But there will always be noob doubters.

I have been reporting them. I hope they find a common formula or something that gives away the posts.
He suggested I just report them to the local Mod for passing on - so I don't think they've actually got a system in place yet.

It is starting to be needed, but my real fear is that as the tech gets better it will be hellish - but they will have already let the bots in.  At the moment it's a post every couple of pages, soon every few posts...  Eventually you will strain your eyes wondering which post (if any) is written by a carbon-based life-form!
This is just a tiny tiny fraction of a much bigger problem that is coming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvbHu_bVa_g The machines will intrude into our lives more and more until we don't even know what is real anymore in any of life's domains, until eventually we become irrelevant, and then we will wish for the days that we mattered enough for them to want to intrude Cheesy Either way, it get's a lot worse before it gets better, if it ever gets better at all.

You're probably right, but in terms of this place, isn't it full of people who are totally into cutting edge technology who might be able to work out a way to mitigate the bot spam before we all get so pissed off we don't bother anymore?  I hope Theymos isn't so rich he won't want to fight to keep this sandbox going fro us to play in.

We might get into trouble if we can't play safely in here...

I don't know how monero isn't at a higher marketcap by now. It's honestly one of the most valuable coins in existence with a seriously solid use.

Maybe you just answered your own question? Maybe people like flashy insubstantial hype driven projects more?

Either way I don't know how to tell which premined hypecoin is the better or the worse, so I'll just stick to putting my money into solid fundamentals. It seems to work well for me over longer time scales.

Many of the the hype based coins have one thing in common ... they have low PER COIN costs ... but plenty of coins which bloats their MCap ... it's a psychologic ( even  though idiotic in investing cryptos ) thing that they rather own x full coins of some hypecoin than 0.3 XMR or 0.1 Dash or 0.05 ETH ... you get the point

Sure I agree with all of that. But to me it's a bit like complaining about a little wave that just splashed salt water in your mouth when there is a clearly visible tsunami approaching from over the horizon. Maybe a bad analogy since tsunamis make the water recede... But what the hell, I'm sticking with it. I just can't muster the energy to care when thinking about it makes me think about the million times more terrifying beast it is a tiny tiny part of.

The usability of monero will bring more value and trade volume to markets. This is the only way to go upper zones in terms of price and trade volume. The development is taking place and monero will do it well itself.

Is there any way to know the volume of transactions of Monero that is not going through the exchanges? I imagine that Monero is at least among the top 4 coins that are most commonly used. Not just projects that live from pump and dump on exchanges.

I'm also really interested in this, by the way. So would be so grateful if anyone could show some helpful link or tool that we could use for this. If we look at coins that are used specifically for transactions of sending and receiving, taking away all exchange trading transactions, I actually suspect Monero might even be really close to ETH. I would really like to confirm this guess.

government are now taking steps to regulate anon cryptocurrencies as they are more potential for laundering and crime related issues. For such, it will bring harm to all crypto but most affected are coins like XMR.

If Coincheck is a real exchange why is it not listed on Coinmarketcap?, they state on their front page they were/are the "The Leading Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Exchange in Asia" and "No.1 Bitcoin trade volume in Japan!"
Plus its closed for registration and the price of BTC is not even updated on their frontpage, looks fake to me

It is impossible to know. Ring Confidential Transactions that will be hopefully replaced with Bulletproofs prevents anyone to see amounts that are transacted.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3AHp9KgTkQ

They might disable sending informations to  coinmarketcap  for security. They were listed there and sort of still are: https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/coincheck/

Guys you need to understand that $500 milion robberies are rare in worlds history.   It does not matter if value of coins decreased by now. Police is listing value as it was on end of January.   I think so far biggest robbery is still Saddam Hussein robbery of  Central bank of Iraq for $1 billion in 2003. So you can imagine the scale of Coincheck hack and how nervous must be that official, that is responsible for safety of Japanese institutions that are keeping peoples wealth. Specially after Mt.Gox

And what about ledger wallet... Anyone has any fresh updates?

Still using monerujo wallet on android, and it's been very nice and stable but I would prefer to use ledger wallet (I bought it because of Monero support anyway).

The altcoin’s developers successfully completed the transfer to version 7 of Monero. The contentious hard fork comes as the Monero community has gained  several forks, some ostensibly aiming to preserve the ASIC-compatible chain and others promising various other improvements and features.

Lets hope it will happen in June.  Ledger needs that monero update to 0.12.1.  So for last month and a bit was not much up to them. Lets hope that after 0.12.1 will be here they will react fast and do whatever they will still need to do and that I will be right about June.
