We could all increase the marketing if we wanted, by wearing the logo or creating a signature and by posting relevant content here and there.

Fight the good fight.

I was thinking yesterday. Monero started year 2017 as one of the most talked about coins, but latter lost the momentum. It looked like hype around other coins went up and around Monero stayed the same.  I never understand of a reason for that. Thought of marketing or that those that joined crypto will find Monero sooner or latter.  But what happened in 2017 and now will continue in 2018 are increased countries regulations. Countries had and will try to regulate ICOs and tokens and coins and all to collect as much taxes as they can. By doing that they mention coins and by that market them. And they mention all coins and tokens beside Monero. Because Monero with non transparent ledger currently dont fit in the scheme. And they have no ideas what to do with it so they ignore it. By ignoring they give no free marketing to Monero but give time to develop to get stronger.

Ignore, laugh, fight, you win.

It seems we are only at start. And we will have plenty of small disappointments on the way.

monero had to be taken over via the development team =) ~if this was really valuable the bytecoin would have rocketed too by now.

I have no idea what you are going on about but Bytecoin has been demonstrated to not only be a bunch of sock puppets and scammers with a hidden premine but also incompetent (see coin creation bug and countless other reliability and other problems with their wallet over the years). Along with the lack of RingCT, unoptimzied code, no LMDB for years, and other major differences.

Of course crypto markets often don't care about that and indeed Bytecoin has had its pumps, but there is no reason to expect the two coins to behave similarly now, years after there was any real commonality.

It's actually the whole market sentiment. All crypto had a good run-up last year, so I believe prices needs to stabilize first. I'm just hope that it will not take that long (like a multi-year bear market).

Price action doesn't look good to be honest, with every small BTC drop XMR goes down but when BTC recovers there isn't much recovering for XMR, the ratio keeps getting crushed.

Good.  That could mean that it's gonna go sideways anytime now...  If it weren't for that dude who keeps dumping BTC, XMR and some alts should be recovering or go at least go flat right now imo.

It makes me remember when China banned cryptocurrencys last year.

It looked like the end of the crypto world. Huge drop after 1 month of drop in price. The ship was sinking like anything.

After the storm it comes the calm. I don't believe we will recover so fast as last year (after 1 week the price was even bigger than before)

But I expect the price to be in about 150€. This is the value I've seen around for some time, so for the market it seems like the fair price.

For me I think comparing with the other coins 250€ is a fair price.

Monero currently has a market capital of $6 billion. The coin is the best privacy coin out there. With its ring signature, it makes transactions completely anonymous and highly secure. The transactions are untraceable and hence, the identity of the sender and reciever is kept private. The coin has one of the best development teams behind it. One of the coin's major aspects is that it provides world class research which ensures that all privacy angles are discovered and adressed. Due to this fact, the coin has the potential to cross the $500 mark in the next 3-4 months. You can expect good returns from it.

IMHO, 3-4 months seems to short.
It'll take "at least" 2 quarters (6 months) to repair the price action, then break all time high again.

Breaking $500 in short period of time (e.g. 3-4 months) will not be sustainable and price may crash again.

Yes breaking 500 seems more unlikely by the day. I think monero is by far the best crypto out there after btc, but you really cant expect anything to happen about the price given the current state of the market.

We are for all effective purposes in a bear market and most likely looking at another crypto winter similar to 2014 to the end of 2016.

IMO the next catalyst for a bull run will most likely be the next halfeneing in 2020

I agree Monero is the best cryptocurrency in the market alongside bitcoin. But platform coins are somwhow earning more interest from the community. The market does not need too much platform coins and their value is too high in my opinion
