Hell if the guy who wrote that article is right and he already wrote that loki code then we could hire him to code a C++ version.

Which article?

Shit just wasted 5 minutes trying to find them in this thread but I gotta get going. If no one else links you I'll find them later.

EDT: Thx JW Smiley

Okay I read that one when it was first posted. It gets into a lot of "he said, she said" type details which are IMO missing the point.

There are certainly different views of what went wrong. My view is that the whole thing, while well-intended, was a bad idea, and still would have been a bad idea even if the results had been somewhat better.

Incremental approaches with usable intermediate milestones like better Tor integration or figuring out how to best integrate with existing i2p implementations first before perhaps working on improving them, are a better fit with a largely volunteer-staffed, donation-financed project like Monero. When people flake out and don't finish the work, waste of scarce donation funding is limited. When people leave after finishing the work because they lose interest and want to do something else (or because the price of Monero drops), it is more feasible for others to take on maintenance of the code, or to work on a replacement. When people do some of the work and then move on, the portion already done might be useful in partially-completed form instead of a code doorstop (which in turn makes it more likely for others to take it on in terms of continued development and/or maintenance).

Funding one person for two years to work on a moon shot type project within this context is just a bad idea. It was an even worse idea to do so with one person who didn't already have a track record of successfully developing for Monero, but it would still be kind of bad even if he had. (I wouldn't support a two-year moon shot done by moneromooo either, although I would perhaps or even probably support him working toward a two-year goal with intermediate, already-usable, milestones.)

But remember, the Monero Core team takes a light touch on things like FFS and the community of donators are the ones actually making these calls. If donators want to fund something stupid we are not going to serve as gatekeepers even though we administer the FFS in a narrow sense.

Well, since this is supposed to be a speculation thread...

Springtime action seems underway.   Glad to see Monero's loose historical patterns seem to be continuing.  A couple of weeks back it was dipping under 0.012, now it's pushing towards 0.014 - not bad if this keeps up.

I still don't know what to believe on the I2p shit so how are we supposed to know what imitative to support when we are in the dark on what the truth is?

We need all the Core Devs to weigh in and give us their unbiased opinions.

Hell if the guy who wrote that article is right and he already wrote that loki code then we could hire him to code a C++ version.

We need to know the truth of the matter. I personally wanted to give anonimal the benefit of the doubt but I'm not impressed with his handling of the situation. Anyway, he said he was going to finish korvi so I guess we should decide after that is done...or not done.

xmr is same as xrp. it is speculative. you can be rich with xxmr when you buy and sell in good points, and you can lose all your money when you try to make it.

Considering emission. I was saying for years that 2019 will be year of Monero. Last year we had no leg up compared to Bitcoin. So this year that is expected to happen. To trigger it we will need some event out of Monero development. Some adoption or something similar. Only problem I see is that we are at the end of a crypto bear market so interest for crypto is at its minimum. And this should not change until the end of the year.

Tail end of crappy market would be nicely into 2019, I have advocated similar.

This is the year it should work out, been a long road.

Still here and healthy.

Thankyou universe

To continue what I said yesterday and since I read good old question on reddit of when Monero emission goes under Bitcoin. And since lately I learned how big is gold yearly emission. It is 1.5-2%.  Then I got curious when will Monero go under that. And on my surprise already next year.  This is actually a really good and simple to understand argument to those that complain about tail emission.

There is quite a scrap going on on Polo.

Fairly large walls popping up 1000 plus either side of the spread - looks like a little whale play with the price.

The momentum was up, so I am not sure the price will stay down.  The volume says something is going on, though - it's bigger than it's been in a long time, so I am fascinated to see how this plays out.

EDIT: Grin listing on Polo. Maybe this?

When checked Grin markets looked to me like Polo is their first serious exchange. Then checked exchanges on coinmarketcap and soon all exchanges I trade on in past will soon be out of top100 on volume Tongue  so many fake volume exchanges.  And what happened with those https://www.blockchaintransparency.org/ that made rank of not wash trading exchanges. They just gave up? Was all that just bullish?

I don't trust polo now, I bet alot of it is fake and they are only listing Grin to tie/map people to their coins.

I believe you are wrong. If we focus just on grin. On Polo is half million volume of Grin. On Hotbit is $12m on Bgogo $3m on $1.5m. You believe volume there is legit?  Why BLOCKCHAIN TRANSPARENCY INSTITUTE  did nto mention Polo of wash trading?

Going to dump the rest of my Monero, there are just too many other upcoming privacy coins that will steal marketshare from xmr.  It was a good run but everything must die in the end. Just make sure you are in the new coins before its too late.

Concern troll is my favorite type of troll--they're like salesmen who are trying to make their numbers at the end of the year and redirecting their panic onto you with, "You better not miss this as it might be gone by tomorrow!" Can't you feel the oozing sincerity?

Troll bollocks...

Trolls are a good omen, they usually precede a rise.

Needless to say, Monero is No. 1 in trade volume on Polo right now, so I don't think it's a time to be divesting.

Monero always has a spring bounce, Gentlemen.  And with the coin emission now decreasing so much - supply will not meet demand at these prices.  What you are hodling is more precious than ever; let the trolls roll. Bring. It. On.

Hmmm, I doubt you would bother posting this is it were true.

It seems you're not the only one, there is a big dump of monero these days and it's hard to see why. GRIN hasn't established itself yet and it has a high emission. The technology isn't even proven unlike monero which has lasted for years
