Work for me, a little finicky though. I have one running stable, but it took some tweaking to get it there. You should use a powered riser, since PCI only supplies 25 watts and PCIe up to 75.

Well, all computers have PCI slots, so this would be an adapter for pci to a pcie slot so you would be able to plug in your GPU to utilize the full potential of your motherboard. It gives it the same performance as a regular pice slot.

FWIW, these work perfectly for mining. It's a 16x physical width PCI-E Slot, but electrically it is only 1x PCI-E 1.1. There doesn't seem to be any need to short presence pins on these, they just plain old work. I haven't needed to use powered risers for them, and I believe that the 12v power supplied on the PCI-E slot is only used for low power things such as the fan or some of the basic low power logic stuff, and the GPU core + memory itself takes its power from the PCI-E power plugs. It should be entirely safe to run even a 6990 through this.
