Why is the latest wallet showing it is infected with "Artemis!BC436F27E946" virus??

I am used to seeing false positives with bitcoin miner blah blah blah, but this one looks funny!

Wanted to upgrade to latest c version as my current wallet corrupts the database and needs to resync every time I shut it down and restart it, but not comfortable seeing this showing up!

There is definitely no virus in the wallet it was built directly by our team but for safety purposes i agree always good to double check. I'm assuming this is on windows? can you let me know what browser / virus scanner you're using? Will try to reproduce and provide some insight.

is that even a virus name? google does not return a result for a virus with that name? what virus scanner did you use?

I think "Artemis!" is a name Mcaffe labels a yet unknown "threat".  I googled it too and that was my understanding.

Yes, on a Win 7 machine.

Scanner I used was VirusTotal online scanner.

Just so you all know, I gave the SYS community a shout out on the radio show today.  Maybe next month one of the US DEVs might want to call in and discuss "Magic Internet Money" for the listeners.

Yes, it will be up next week.  As our weekly train wreck of a show goes, this one wasn't the best.  My co-host truck broke down.  As November get closer (then the school does their fundraiser) we'll be chatting more about "SYS and CLAM, the magic internet money donated to the hospital", and the community behind it.

I thought dano was already looking into this.  This last one you posted is new.  I suspect these are all false positives, but with the new ones I have not heard of before, it leaves me a bit concerned to install it.

I'll just wait for dano to report on these.

Got caught up on some other Syscoin business, scanned the .zip file just now using BitDefender for mac and it found nothing. Rescanned with virustotal and it found the usual miner virus (false positive) and this other suspected item which we can't find any info on anywhere "Artemis!BC436F27E946". Dug a little deeper and this appears to be a known Mcafee "false positive" as well - https://community.mcafee.com/thread/70847. It appears the hexkey concatenated onto the end of the virus name makes it a little trickier to lookup on google.

Based on that community thread I think that you're all good to go, but if you have any further concerns please let us know.

Not sure if this is the right place to discuss syscoin.me

I am using cgminer,

Code:
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.syscoin.me:3000 -u SXY5UcZCwAZjJnb9gKH7dmCMZrw2Bew5iu -p x --shaders 2048 --intensity 11 --worksize 256 --gpu-engine 1200 --gpu-memclock 1600 --thread-concurrency 8192

but I got zero payout in the last 12 hours, the site tells me that I am hashing away

Valid Shares: 821.35475253
Invalid Shares: 0
HashRate: 179.43 KH

But yet, no payout in 12hrs, what am I doing wrong or is it expected?

I think after merge mining activated that is normal, with that hash rate you should consider joining merge mining pool you will get up to 5 Sys and some other alt coin.
My last pay out is after 44 hours mining so i switch to merge mining pool and got daily payout.

Surely that makes mining totally unprofitable. While I agree that the hash rate is minuscule, to not get anything after 12hrs is a bit worrying.

Was there an announcement about merge mining? I mean, what is it, and how does it work?

Thanks

Syscoin.me has an IRC chat which you can jump in for support directly from the website, as for merged mining we gave an announcement around a week ago

The following sites are supported for merged mining,

http://simpledoge.com/
http://give-me-coins.com/
http://bemining.net/

All sites have good documentation and set up for merged mining with Syscoin

that mean your mining pool total hashrate are too small, maybe switch to other pool but last time i check all the pool suffer the same problem, and yes merge mining announced when Syscoin Wallet v0.14 release.

for me i use:  http://simpledoge.com/ for Sys-Doge merge mining or http://myriad.p2pool.geek.nz/home for Myriad-Syscoin merge mining. it takes me few hours of reading to activate because many merge mining pool do not have clear and easy to follow guide.
