Yet again - I got some gemz on koinify at the presale. Is there any way to transfer that to the app? Were there any rewards for taking a chance and buying early and if so, how can I tell the app I was an early bird?

I don't have the app yet i've iphone but i think you need to copy your address from within the app where you can send your GEMZ from Koinify to it. Regarding rewards for crowsale buyers see below.

Q: How are you going to reward original crowdsale buyers for uninvited users?  If I sell my pre-sale coins will I lost this perk? How does the system know who is a pre-sale buyer?

A: Selling your original GEMZ will not change your original crowdsale buyer status. The original crowdsale buyers perk system will be calculated based on the original participation at the time of the pre-sale end which were recorded on blockscan. Original crowdsale buyers  will be rewarded relatively to their original number of coins that they’ve purchases during the pre-sale. The GEMZ reward will be sent to the original Koinify addresses.

Thought this might be newsworthy here that telegram has integrated a bitcoin wallet into its app.

It's not telegram who has integrated it, they aren't related so title is misleading. If it was telegram they would have tweeted about it and announced it themselves. telebit isn't user friendly, you have to add telebit to contacts and need to type commands to it to get actions done, also no airdrops, no advertisement model, no context aware smarticons, no multiple reward models, no in-build wallet.

Unfortunately, the text based user interface and the non-intuitive set of actions required on the telegram GUI to initiate btc transfers to other users makes it completely unsuitable for the normal (non-tec-savy) user.

what is needed is to have the BTC wallet built-in to the telegram GUI. unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen, since telebit is not affiliated with telegram.

I just took a look and it's more of a hassle to send btc, you need to click on the username you are chatting with to open profile, then click one of the options (probably share) and then you need to click on user telebit to open conversation with it and there you need to put in the amount you want to send. So you can't directly just send it with the person you are chatting with, you need to go through multiple steps, i mean wtf.

I don't think its a zerosum game here. Bring on the competition I say but so far nothing has come close to the GEMS concept. I mean even if telebit functioned exactly like GEMS but only had BTC then its really not overlapping the same functions. BUT even if a messneger app comes along that has just as much going for it as GEMS then so what, its like messengers today, some people use Snapchat, some use FB some use LINE etc. We are not in competition against anyone, I think we are in competition with ourselves, all GEMS needs to do is deleiver what it promised and I'm confident we have as good a killer app as Bitcoin can possibly have. There are 4 billion people in the world Bitcoin users are about 1-2M? There is quite a big market out there. Grin

I still have a nagging thought that I wished we weren't on another companies code but whatever, I guess users wont care. But if possible I would prefer we had a seperation from telegram, just an opinion.

I was talking with a Nephew and got him to download the app, his first question was where can I spend GEMS. That will be the most inportant question once the app is done. Gems Store?

Telebit is just a bot, GetGems is on another league and requires much more work to achieve its features. I don't actually think any competitors exist atm in the crypto space, its even a more superior version of telegram itself while not even being half complete. Although healthy competition would be nice, Daniel has a pretty competitive mindset.

The plan is to bootstrap Telegram users to reach a critical mass of GetGems users, we will use Telegrams only as long as it is beneficial to the project.

Extended question to the following section of Q&A post #2064

Quote
A: Currently, the natural place to hold your GEMZ is in the wallet created when you initially create your account. The system will examine the contents of this wallet for airdrop calculations.

We are aware though that users with large amounts of GEMZ will probably not want to hold all of their GEMZ in this wallet for security purposes. In order to accommodate these users, we plan to add a feature that allows connecting other wallet addresses to your username in order to influence airdrop calculations. Each existing address would be able to be connected to a single GetGems username, so only a single account will be able to receive credit for the contents of this wallet. These wallet addresses will not be used when sending/receiving GEMZ, only for airdrop calculations. We are also thinking of other possible methods to achieve this in the most efficient and user friendly way.

Question: The option to link an additional address to your GetGems account for safekeeping of larger amounts of GEMZ while still being able to take advantage of perks/awards over that balance will support counterparty multi-sig addresses right? Once Counterwallet has sorted out the signing bugg in counterwallet multi-signature adresses that is.

we are working with counterparty and testing the multi-sig support, the goal is security and ease of functionality.

@ Vrezor, GetGems is the name of the app and GEMZ are the token names, can't get easier.

Q Why was the name changed from Gems to GetGems?

A: The name of the app was changed from Gems to GetGems due to three reasons:
1. The domain name is getgems.org - and a domain is important for branding. Adding the full domain name to the app name makes it easier to locate in the app stores.
2. The word “Gems” by itself is too popular and isn’t indicative enough. When users searched for the word “Gems” in the app stores, they received too many irrelevant search results (mostly games involving gems) and had a hard time finding the correct app. Changing the branding slightly to something more unique guarantees that the correct app will be returned in the first search results.
3. GetGems adds more information about the product.

Actually I understood it as the company and the app is called GetGems ie 'you get gems' so the tokens are still called Gems but the exchange ticker/code whatever you want to call it is GEMZ just like say Bitcoin is BTC or Litecoin is LTC.

The assets is called GEMZ (https://blockscan.com/assetInfo/GEMZ)
With XGEM as Daniel's emergency fund (https://blockscan.com/assetInfo/XGEM)

Agree that a little bit more thought could have gone into the names, maybe picked in a bit of a rush with it being removed from the play store right after android launch. Might be a little late to change it again but indeed it should be made clear in all communication that the app is called GetGems with GEMZ as its native asset. Right now everything is being used at random.

Update: Seems I spoke to soon.. and the GetGems team has been explaining this before - http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/gems-update-token-name-explained-sending-gemz-transaction-requests-more  Though I don't understand why they didn't completely change it to gemz or xgem at that point in time.
Yeah, exactly.
I'd also like them to update the website with the new name as I see no point in using just Gems then.
Could you also update getgems.org please?

Although for the common user its not an issue, you need to be a very important target to get a mobile security lab on board to attempt this attack vector. It seems that it basically can be solved by probably an update which they just need to encrypt chat strings in memory, as-well as encrypting the conversations in the cache4.db file.

Hi there,

Ok, there is some Telegram / GetGems overlapping so better to search for user ID: Crystalizer instead.

I have updated the signature. PM me and I will add you to the group. It is kinda active now with dozens of posts per day.
