Prior to joining this forum, I used to be one of those that posted #WOTD (Word of the Day) on Twitter. I felt it increased my word power. Felt, hell! It most certainly did. Often times I muse about twitting my newly found word to fellow tweeps, but lack of time no longer affords me to do such. Thank you, Bitcoin. Unless, of course, I restart the practice here on BitcoinTalk, albeit a smaller group of cohorts, I believe such a thread would be most receptive. That said, today's WOTD (linked) is... Apotropaichttp://news.google.com/newspapers?id=Bb1OAAAAIBAJ&sjid=ZgsEAAAAIBAJ&pg=1920,4535221&dq=apotropaic&hl=enHis attempts to disguise his writing as being apposite and apotropaic is emetic. He could use some improvement in resolution in the coming new year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GorgoneionIn Ancient Greece, the Gorgoneion was originally a horror-creating apotropaic pendant showing the Gorgon's head. I'll used http://dictionary.reference.com daily for my inspiration, although a handful of other sites offer up their own WOTD. My daily posts will consist of gleaning references from the internet that have incorporated the WOTD in text and images. I'll even Google it with the word "Bitcoin" to see if I'll be able to relay a prior or obscure connection. For instance: Sweetie Belle by Apotropaic PuppetFeel free to post and discuss any word that recently has tickled your fancy, coupled with commenting on a current or past WOTD on this thread. One final thought: Consider incorporating the current WOTD in your very next post. ~Bruno~

You have and unwonted bent for logoleptic posts. FTFY
BRB! I need to Google "bent" so that when I reply, it'll be in proper context. ~Cackling Bear~ EDIT: Yes!

A more obscure, perhaps even arcane, art of the Pacific Rim region is that of cumshaw, a term deriving from the beggars of Amoy, China... Ha! Rim and cumshawin one sentence. You're adding to my childish humour vocab, but not my adult one.

... and I still have no idea what aperçu could possibly mean. At the moment, I'm thinking it's either a kind of turkey, or possibly a bed of some sort.

I've opt to not give the definitions of the WOTD but do link the words to dictionary.com. Then I provide a couple instances, along with a link, showing the word used in context. The accompanied image, albeit sometimes abstract, helps in defining the term. ~Bruno~

I know, I just like to try to figure out what a word mean from context. Its way funner!
Then I give up and look at the definition, which in this case had nothing to do with turkeys or beds.
