Bitcoin isn't really anonymous by default and I think we should stop spreading this misconception for our own good.

There is a lot of confusion around bitcoin an anonymity. I think it stems from confusion about anonymity mostly. I don't know the right word... but anonymity is the sort of thing where everything has to go right. If one step reveals your identity it is revealed the other steps don't matter (concerning anonymity anyway).
So the statement to make about bitcoin is that you don't have to reveal your identity to use it. You might, probably will, but that's not about bitcoin that's the other stuff you do.
