The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

I cannot see how the following problem is solved?
Suppose that i transfer 10BTC but 10 is kept private. How the verification that the reference transaction outputs at least 10BTC to the current input transaction?
