The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

It just give you an idea of what it would take if the Diff doesn't change for a year. We all know it doesn't work like that. Why is this so outrageous ?
Because Kano likes to be a pseudo-intellectual.
In his mind:
Quote
Chance of you finding a block in one day:    1 in 1,929.6
is, somehow, magically different than
Quote
Your Average Time per Block: 1929days 14hr 58min 29sec[1]

He just can't grasp that saying "1 in 1,929.6" and "average of ~5.3 years" (based on 5.5TH/s) are the exact same thing.
Basically if you're not a sycophant, you're wrong even if you agree. Undecided

[1] 1929days 14hr 58min 29sec = ~5.3 years

This conversation is obviously dead. Now that it's past, what's a good btc address for you CG? You deserve a present.

Solo mining is alive and profitable!

-ck, could you please remove all the trash out of here, even this very post if it seems offtopic. I came here to read some statistics about a solo block that has been found some 9 or 10 hrs ago, as you usually post it here. And could hardly find it in the jungle of useless arguing.

Good idea, that way the thread is less than 200 posts, rather than 300+ pages. Grin

See even I can remove some of your post and pretend it says something that it didn't Tongue
And all this time I thought that anyone with an education beyond grade 3 knew that the delusional perception of my taking a comment "out of context" and your notion of a "hatchet job" of a comment weren't the same thing (or even close to the same thing).

In context:

Q: Why, in the name of all that is holy, would anyone pay you anything for a stand-alone page that even you admit is lacking.

A: Your inane hubris that comes from your beloved sycophants feeding your narcissistic delusions of grandeur.

Q: Why, in the name of all that is holy 20 people donated to  1MW6BNqwU4StysayHwApDZPBggms25tf5t which is related to https://alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator a similar page to Kano calculator, found much easier on google.

A: Because this is the Bitcoin Comunity.

Nothing is impossible :-)

Hi All,

Noob here, 3 days ago, I got given an S1, I had it setup and mining to CK pool, however, the payments are just dust and i dont suppose i will ever get a payout from them.

Anyway, I have now switched to CK solo setup and have it all running, but, i am wondering, is it best to use an antminer S1 in a pool or as a lottery and solo, would love to hear experienced miners thoughts on the subject as I have bought second hand another S1 and an S3 but I am not sure what to do with them.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have free electricity? if not then you will never profit from them. If you are just mining as a hobby (as I am) then point them at a smaller pool that lets you build up your "dust" payments until you reach a withdrawal quota. Or just solo mine and pray  Wink

I made a "chance of finding block when solo mining" calculator for myself and thought you guys might find it useful.

I'm not the best coder and I haven't spent too long on it, so let me know if there's obvious things that I missed/messed up on.

There's no way you could earn more btc than you spend in electricity for the S1, you're better off just buying straight btc, unless like me you like to mine just for mining sake.  Throw away the S1 and use the S3, it uses the same amount of electricity and hashes more than twice as fast.  In reality, though, you'll never solve a block with either of them, so if you can afford the electricity they would just be fun lottery machines.

An S1 @360 watts and 180 GH/s; I'm not sure you could even make any positive gains with free electric.  Undecided

Thanks for the reply's.

Not on free electric and in the UK, quite high electric prices, however, I will run the S1 for now as a lottery and hope to hit a few blocks but I don't think I will be that lucky. Time will tell. LOL

You said you have an S3, run that one instead of the S1.
Hope is awesome, but don't fool yourself, your chance of solving let alone 1 block is essentially 0.

I was foolish and cut off the PCIe connectors from power supply and wired into the S1, waiting on another power supply to get the S3 up and running. We live and learn.

Fingers crossed on hitting a block, but I think they going to be crossed for a long time, lol.
