3 x 6870 or 2 x 6970

Since I can't yet post in the Hardware section, here I am.

Given that the price of 58XX cards has gone off the charts, I figure I should stick to the current gen and hopefully be able to sell them down the road.

I can currently either get three 6870s or two 6970s. I would add a 6990 to my dilemma but they are out of stock.

Which would be more cost-effective, in terms of MHash/power consumption?

How about 5830s?  300 MH/s for $109 (retail).  They are currently out of stock, but I am selling a pair of brand new ones here:

My prices are significantly lower than other users who are selling their 5830s (especially since mine have never been used)

3 x 6870 are higher on p/p but you 2nd card will be hotted like hell cause it dosent have air to breathe. So you have to deal with it or do something to cool it.

2 x 6970 are high Mhash/s also,  you can save a slot for something and they will work well if you have good 6970 ( non ref ? )

anyway its you'r choice man.

2 x 6970 seems to be taking less power and the ghash rate is a little bit better there.

But it is up to you.
