Saw that, Wonder when the 7990 is going to launch? And I wonder if AMD will drop the prices further as the other 600 series cards get released.

I figure it should be due out soon.  Couple of weeks maybe?  They will most likely drop the prices of the 78xx line next, either way it's great for the consumer when there is a price war.  Grin

I think moreso than the price war, its great for the consumer when there is a "Greater Performance" war Grin

Looks like newegg has some at those prices:

I'd think a drop on the 7870 has to be coming soon too. The cheapest 7870 on NW is $330, only $50 less than the cheapest 7950.

I thought the 7990 is supposed to come out today...

I read a couple sources that said it was going to be today as well. I'm holding out on buying one 7 series card for my main PC until the 7990 comes out and evaluate my options from there.

I too came across a source indicating April 17 as the launch date for the 7990. Other sources (e.g. http://www.cpu-world.com/news_2012/2012032002_Radeon_HD_7990_Specs_Detailed.html) points to a launch in April.

The price drop of current GPU's is with no doubt paving the way for the 7990.

I have searched exclusively through many Asian, American, and European sites using Google ("Radeon 7990 site:.tw" for Taiwanese site results only), limiting publications to the last hour, 24 hours, and week options. There is nothing more precise than March, April, end Q1 or beginning Q2.

7990 april 17 launch was fake. However i did hear they confirmed Q1 launch when GTX 680 launches. With the recent price drop for 7970 i think its safe to say they should be here by the end of the month.

Hurrah for competition! Nvidia's gtx600 series has forced AMD's HD7000 series to lower price once they started stocking again. Although it'll probably be a while before I upgrade from HD5000 series to 7000 series.
