Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. Linking cellphones to physical identities.
They track every phone as a matter of course. But when you report your phone stolen, they can't be bothered to track it down and arrest the thieves or even investigate.
More security theater.

The free market might be helping with that. They'll usually respond to "My iPhone was just stolen, and I am tracking it with the Find My iPhone app, and the thieves are <wherever>". Just google "find my iPhone arrest"

It could come with a list of known addresses for sites/people, so when your bitcoins are sent it would say 'xbtc sent to xaddress. That address is known to be mtgox's' To get the app, you would have to compile a list of 150 addresses you come across and their owners, contributing to the app. |

There is already 2 year prison time in Latvia for possessing equipment that is capable of changing IMEI codes on phones. So for older phone models COM cable in your apartment is all the cops need to get you in prison.
