Well that sucks but there were plenty of warning signs.  The 4th post in the thread warned about a virus and the ANN had a link to an exchange for a different coin when this one was supposedly just launched.  Then there is the fact that the ANN was a copy paste from KittehCoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=448003.0 and they didn't even bother to change the coin specifications.

That's nowhere near safe enough. Malware can be hidden (encrypted) inside the wallet and it can trigger anytime.

Always use at least a restricted sandbox or better yet a VM or a machine that doesn't have important data like wallets with funds on it.
