1 Don't buy any mining hardware or you will lose your money.
2 If you want to try mining buy some hours of cloudmining rig but only for didactic purposes.
3 Invest in altcoins after having studied the market, but only if you want an high risk investment.
4 Buy bitcoins, it's safer, easier and more profitable.

i want to told u the same thing don't waste it on altcoins or invest somewhere  its the time for buying so just buy & hold it will make u a great profit.

gl all !

Invest all your 5k in bitcoins and wait for the next pump, try to spot the peak and sell. Repeat. Profit.

I aslo would advise to put your dollar into bitcoin, it will aways go up in price becouse demand will always get higher.
You coud also wait for some bad news which will press the price down and then buy, visa versa.

Hello everyone,

I have 5,000$ I want to invest in crypto currencies.

I'm wondering what's the best move right now?
Should I buy bitcoins directly ? Should I buy a miner ? Should I buy an other crypto currency ?

Buying Bitcoins would save me a lot of trouble, I would have my money directly converted into bitcoins?
Buying a miner could be fun, especially because I have free electricity but you have to wait to be delivered, it might be a scam, difficulty might increase and you'll never get a chance to earn enough btc to break -even ?

I'm not sure what I will do... What would you suggest at this moment ?

Thank you for your help, insights and time!

Make sure that $5000 is the money you can afford to lose rather than all your life saving.
I suggest you to buy bitcoin directly rather than bitcoin miner as it is not easy to get profit with bitcoin mining.
Please spend some time researching how to store bitcoin safely, before buying the coin.

If you can afford to lose that money and want to take the risk (the potential rewards are huge, yes!) you should just go and buy some Bitcoins. Maybe only $2500 or so, because we may still go down from here. People agree that we'll most likely be in a definitive bull market as soon as we cross about $680...
There are trustworthy and legit miner manufacturers. Try CanaryInTheMine, CrazyGuy, SilentSonicBoom on this forum, they sell in-hand miners and are trustworthy. If you do have free electricity, you may consider getting an ASICMiner Tube - very cheap, since it consumes slightly-above-average power. But make sure you really don't steal the electricity, miners consume a lot.

I should have gotten into Bitcoin back in 1992...

with you 5k$ i think you should invest it in safety and profitable investment, I propose you to invest in http://goo.gl/vAFIf5
maybe that is a kind of safety and profitable investment, in hash profit you can predict your investment and when when your investment return on investment ... hopefully it's a kind of the best safety and profitable investment ...  Tongue

do not invest on hashprofit it's a scam.

let's say you bought 1 btc at 480$
then you invested 1 btc to xmr.
1 xmr is 3.9mbtc right now. so you bought ~256 xmr.
then you can sell it at 4.3 mbtc price. so you get 1.1 btc
Then sell 0.9 btc at price of 500$ (you'll get 480$)
So you still have 0.2 btc and also you got your starter investment.

$4k in bitcoin and $1k in litecoin would be my suggestion or with the price of litecoin so low you could even go half and half.

My 2 satoshi Tongue

1) Avoid Cloud Mining Like the plague (or ebola?)- Clear losing proposition
2) Avoid Alt coins as they seem to be dying a slow death. A few promising ones out there, but you never know whats the bottom so not worth the risk imo.
3) Buying a miner is a worthless investment unless you plan to use it as a heater if it gets cold where you are. If you do plan on buying a miner, do so and run it solo in the hope that you hit a block (have seen some folks hit a block).
4) Buy BTC directly while the price is low due to whales keeping it this way before the USMS auction.

Thanks!

While I agree with the others that buying bitcoin directly is the best option among the three options, OP would have a ~20% loss now if he did buy bitcoin in early Sept. It shouldn't be a big problem if you are planning for a long term investment and believe bitcoin price could go up many times in the coming years.
