http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=28599CCP announced earlier this month that they are now taking GBP for subscriptions. I had no idea they were restricting customers to using the Euro before, but this made me think. If they can make a change like that, what if they go through the process of figuring out how to accept BTC for subscriptions? CCP Garlakadl appears to be the person in charge of billing. Not sure how to contact him, clicked on his name and there was no e-mail. He even adds this in part of that blog post - "We are regularly looking into additional payment systems, so that list may grow over time. " I'm not good at sounding professional for requests like this. Anyone else play EVE and want to pay subscriptions with BTC? PS - I don't know where to put this, so I'm putting it in general so that a mod may move it.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Since the subscriptions are tradeable items, I'm sure other people are selling them for BTC.
What CCP should really do is integrate a BTC client into the EVE client so people can use it as an ingame currency.

I already sent them an email to info@ccpgames.com which I was told to do after submitting a ticket. Whether it got chucked straight into the bin or actually read and examined your guess is as good as mine.

This would be a cool idea but I doubt they'd be willing to implement anything.
We're too small a community for them to bother at the moment I'd say.

Eve-Online should just switch from ISK to Bitcoin internally. I don't feel like doing the math, but it would be pretty cool. Maybe CCP can become a major player in the Bitcoin world.

I disagree with changing the in-game currency from ISK to BTC. The in-game economy and currency need to be independent, the value of ISK needs to float in relation to their market. Imagine EVE as it's own country, the economy and market in the game is fantastic if you check it out.

From what I was able to gather while loosely following what's going on ingame it's actually not that rosy right now with prices of minerals skyrocketing. It's true I don't know what the reason behind it is and it could very well be the market pricing in changes in the upcoming expansion but it might also be due to ISK inflation due to changes from the last expansion. Regardless I'm convinced the players would be much better off if they were able to deal in a limited and scarce currency instead.

I wish they weren't so fking stubborn on how local works in 0.0 and a few other minor things that really make the game boring. Most of my time playing I spent in wh space where things are actually really interesting.

Who cares if the price of minerals skyrocket. If that's the natural direction of the market, then that's the natural direction. People may be pissing and moaning, but that doesn't mean the market is broken. People piss and moan when the BTC market falls 5% too.

I don't know why you guys think they would want to do this (yet) to be honest. Bitcoin is still experimental and in beta, with a small community. Don't forget that adding BTC to be used along side ISK is the equivilant of a "cash shop" which will ruin the ingame economy. (Buy an awesome spaceship for 1 BTC kind of thing). One of the big appeals in the game is the economy and it's own currency, ISK. It would be cool, however, to buy subscriptions in BTC, but maybe we should be asking the resellers of the time codes (shattered crystal, battle clinic) rather than CCP itself. That is much more likely. Also, if anyone wants to add me on EVE to play together, PM me! I have no friends on EVE at the moment We could make a BTC corp...

Would love to pay for my eve accounts with bitcoin atm plex are costing me way to much ingame.
But dont mess with the isk its just fine how it is.
Shattered crystal, battle clinic are without a doubt the way to go forget going directly to ccp for the time being.
If some one drafts some emails or somthing I would be happy to help how I can.
Edid: Also yes isk inflation is a pain in the ass for those that didnt see it coming.

Silly me. Here I am looking at CCP to take BTC directly for subscriptions, when you guys are already privately selling PLEX for BTC. It would still be cool if CCP was the first game company to do this.
