I recently got 3 BFL singles. One of them seems to be a slacker. I use cgminer 2.3.1 and two of them report an average Mh/s of ~810, while the slacker reports 629 Mh/s. This shows in the # of shares submitted. The normal ones are approaching 8000 and the slacker just hit 5400. The light flashes on this one quite often. To be fair, I live in southern Arizona and temps are in the high 90's already. Last night before I went to bed, I reset cgminer thinking it was just perhaps the day temps causing issues. Well all the number above came from that run over night. Should I send it back?

The recommended ambient temperature is 72 degrees, don't you have a location with air conditioning? |

Evaporative cooler through out the house and a portable A/C in my bedroom that I am not using yet.
My house was cooler than 70 last night so I'm pretty sure it's not the house temperature.

The blinking front LED means it is throttling due to overtemperature. What temperature is cgminer reporting for that Single? As rjk pointed out, 90F ambient is pretty high. I'm running a bunch at 80F ambient without issue, but found they have around 10-15F headroom before throttling. So your observation does not surprise me from what I know of their characteristics. But you did say it exhibits similar behavior when your house is at 70 ... that is not normal. You should contact BFL about a replacement. |

Yea, i understand about the throttling. Just reset cgminer again. It's 68F in my house. Not even 3 minutes running it's 10 shares behind and showing an average of 650Mh/s vs 826Mh/s for the others.

edit: Oh and temps for BFL's aren't displayed in 2.3.1-2. They were in 2.3.3 but there's the temp cutoff bug that makes them REST all the time.

It's definitely throttling, but if your house is 68F, it should not be doing that. Send it to me for some tender loving care. I'll take care of your ill single and set it free when it's all better.

I opened the case and found the large heatsink wasn't secure to the board. After securing it, my throttling issues disappeared....now the other two appear to be doing less work than it.  Also Sonny mentioned an app coming out in 10 days that'll let you change the clock speed and firmware. |

I opened the case and found the large heatsink wasn't secure to the board. After securing it, my throttling issues disappeared....now the other two appear to be doing less work than it. Also Sonny mentioned an app coming out in 10 days that'll let you change the clock speed and firmware. I've had 2 come in with loose heatsinks; one of the 2 plastic pins holding it down was popped out. Fortunately it is easy to fix; I guess shipping can be a bit rough.
