TEDx - James McCarthy [Nefario] - Evolutionary money: the Bitcoin ecology

Nefario, also known as James McCarthy, originally from Ireland, worked as an engineer at Sun Microsystems for a short time on the Solaris team. Spent 2 years teaching English in mainland China. Began using Bitcoin late 2010 and have been a community member since that time, founded and runs the Bitcoin stock exchange (glbse.com).

Nefario was the first person to fly using Bitcoin and also the first person to be detained and deported from the US... also for using Bitcoin.

Currently Nefario is the CEO of GLBSE and the community manager for the second largest Bitcoin exchange, Intersango.

Unfortunately the sound quality is just horrible.. but hey, at least it's up.

That talk went terrible, I've come to accept that I'm not really the best speaker when on a stage, 1 to 1 or a small group...informally I'm fine.

It's actually "TEDx" - anyone can organize these events and I know a few people who already did. TED conferences themselves are usually more elitist (and expensive!), TEDx conferences are often grouped around a topic that a group of people in a city deem interesting and they then go on and invite speakers.

If you want more Bircoin talks at TEDx conferences, organize some! It's not that hard, people really like it and over time it might be that Bitcoin takes the jump over to the "real" TED conferences too...
