So here's a 15 dollar solution. It's a 64 bit ARM mini computer like the pi, but armed with a quad-core ARM A53 64-bit processor. It can hold as much as 2 gigabytes of ram, and has all the standard pi like features. They've collected far beyond what they needed for the kickstarter, and if this little bad boy makes it into full production soon, we can have a 15 dollar linux staking wallet right out of the box without the need to recompile the wallet software.

This looks sick! This will change everything. It opens the barrier to staking like nothing else we have ever seen. 15 Dollars to setup a full node and start staking, no matter how many slr you have. Awesome

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Just to be more specific, it's 10 dollars more for the 2 gig model, but I think even the 512k version might be able to stake effectively in a linux environment. I am really considering plunking down the whole 22 dollars to get my name on the march list.

I was about to say the same thing, but I already have a PI and the intel pc stick Wink I need to get rid of my PI first...  payed almost 75 Euro for that and it's just sitting there not being used...

Do you realize how the barrier of entry for Solarcoin is getting smaller over time, as opposed to bitcoin where the difficulty just rises and you need to get new miners/hardware Wink

Solarcoin has now been added to the CoinWallet.co online wallet, POS pool service and Twitter tipping service.

https://www.coinwallet.co

Running since 2013.

POS Pool fee: 2%
Wallet withdrawal fee: 0.5%
Twitter tipping fee: 0%

As always use online wallets with caution and store the majority of your coins in cold storage or a secure / encrypted wallet on your computer.

Coinwallet.co serves as an easy to use and accessible wallet that you can access with just an internet connection.

Nice! Good to hear you have been around since 2013
Solarcoin is still relatively easy to ''solo stake''.
Once it becomes harder you might see people join your SLR staking pool. I like the idea!

There's an elegance to Solarcoin that Bitcoin can't cover. At least now that it's carbon friendly, and designed to plug right into the sun. I'd love to see within my lifetime a network of scientific instruments measuring solar radiation across the globe and people benefiting from doing it. I want to write some software that will scan the blockchain for claimants, and make the data searchable. As well as track the chain like a typical tracker. I need to learn some new programming languages.

So I joined up via your link I hope you get your share.  I'm in the UK so buying BTC for GBP isn't the easiest process, the Uphold documentation process was pretty slick, easier than other places I tried.
I'm hoping this will allow me to fund the GBP card and go to BTC, then move to an exchange and go for SLR.  I raised a ticket requesting SLR direct, of course!
The only negative is 3-5 day wait for bank transfer from my bank to the Uphold account, in UK we have instant domestic bank-bank transfers so waiting for days seems very slow, but its pretty cheap if it really is 0% charge!

Scalextrix have you tried https://bitbargain.co.uk I like you live in the UK and use bitbargain all the time, I do an instant bank transfer and within few minutes the btc are in there for you to transfer to any wallet of your choosing even bittrex

I have never had a problem and always get a good price.

No I tried Bittylicious which is ok for small amounts but you need registration for higher amounts and you need to input different accounts every time.
Im really liking Uphold, in fact it took about 15 hours to get my bank transfer over to them, slow but now Im registered its a single set of payment details I can resuse.  I sent £10.00, converted that to BTC free of charge, I looked 2 minutes later and it was worth £10.01 (you can show all values in your preferred currency).  Came back today and the BTC was worth £10.03, simply instructed to send £10.02 of BTC back to my bank account, and its done, got credited with £10.02 about 6 hours later.
If you arent a trader (and dont want to be) this is a very simple way to get into BTC, more importantly its easy to get back to Fiat too.  This would be very cool to open up SLR direct....

Forgive me, but where is the compiled ARM version wallet ? i have already asked by the past, and dev said that he will not compile an ARM version. So with Pine or PI, how do you plan to execute the wallet on ARM processors ?

Oh that could be a problem. It's possible it can be compiled from source, at least a more direct path.

Yes I really like this idea. The lower the cost, the more nodes we can have out there...

Remember if you know anyone with solarpanels on their roof or a big solar farm.  you can get 10% of the initial claim for residential and 1st year of installations over 20KW.  Head on over to solarcoin.org or fill out the claim application in the wallet.  It grows the value of the community.

For those with friends in the solar media or who are interested, here is the SolarCoin press pack.

Have a great weekend.

Nick

Who is in charge of or represents the solarcoin foundation, may I ask?

Id like to have them consider potentially doing a beyond bitcoin hangout to chat with them about this project.
