Thanks for the clarification nick.  Smiley

Thanks for the clarification nick.  Smiley

no worries. we thought about hosting our own explorer with a more intuitive UI, but felt a 3rd party explorer was likely to be trusted more and made more sense.  I am a huge UI/UX obsessive and know that we are at a 3/10 for UX right now.  We are workgin on getting server side tools and getting more programming resources as a we have a backlog of integration for businesses.

If any one knows people who want to work for solarcoin who know thier way around a blockchain with basic RPC calls and some basic database scripting etc. we are all ears. we want to create a few tools that can be open sourced for easy integration by partners who run solar monitoring companies.

One of our partners in the works has over 10k users.  After getting that done we will pursue 100k+ solar firms.  We have intros to Sr. management at some of the world's largest solar energy firms but are waiting on our tech to catch up with our biz dev.  Skilled coders will have lots of work as there are a many utilities waking up to blockchain and solar and lots of monitoring companies etc. globally.   We are frustrated at not moving faster. Tech is our bottleneck right now but we are solving it.

Make a backup or five of your wallet file first then reload the blockchain. If that fails delete everything except the wallet file in your %appdata%/solarcoin folder and restart the application.

It seems like there was a large Solarcoin grant somewhere recently.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/slr/#!crypto

Check the amount of circulating coins. it was at 34,45 million a couple days ago..
It looks like this might explain the price decline

I love it!     text:ElectriCChain Space Network Commercialization & Development Smiley
What other coin can say that?

actually this is from the genesis pool and was for §10,000SLR. The foundation is very frugal and knows the value of a SolarCoin.  See the terminal value out at the bottom of the page.   https://chainz.cryptoid.info/slr/tx.dws?38bc0f86d2b7f86c064b2398d40a396578d5becf428b10add3bcab229b2982c7.htm

Hi all,

We are using the SLR blockchain to certify our reports. It is routine now.

Hi!

What happened with the poloniex listing? Is that still in the works?

It wasn't. There was a language barrier and it was put up on the Solarcoin website in error.

What is this downtrend with the price recently? It goes that way for over 2 months now, since the Poloniex "event" :/ I see many good news about the project, but the price seems to be struggling going up  and I wonder why is that happening? It is a great time to buy, but the interest seems to be low? WHY  Huh And nick make sure to add Livecoin exchange to the first page of the topic.

There is a person or a group of people who have been deliberately driving down the price. I'm not entirely sure why as pushing the price much lower hurts the long term up trend. If they expect to drive it down and for it to just recover they would be mistaken. Im guessing once they have all the coins they want they will pump it so they can sell at profit. Personally I wouldn't take much notice of the current value as the market is far to easy to manipulate until we can get on more exchanges.

Low volume is probably a response to all this as no one wants to be buying into a so obviously manipulated market. Just wait it out as solarcoin grows over time and just use this as an opertunity to pick up more coins on sale Smiley

Don't you guys understand? What goes up too hard comes back down eventually. Its as simple as that. How did you not see this coming? I hope you didnt buy too many at the top  Grin

The price was heavily manipulated up so I was kind of expecting it to be manipulated back down at some point...

BTW: I learned a lot from Nick's book: The Nature of Value. Its a really well written book! Thank you Nick  Cheesy

I mined all my coins way back at the start so I'm happy to wait. But I understand the reason for manipulating the price up as you can sell at a profit. As far as I'm aware you can't short solarcoin so just driving the price down will only lose you money. The only way to make money from driving the price down is to buy cheap then pump it up again. So just give it time, the price will recover once who ever is doing this feels they have enough coins.

This guy will only stop when we give him our coins for a discount or he finally gives up.

He can have my coins for $3.00 each if he is interested.

If no one buys at the top the price will never go up. So that is why you should hedge. But this is only important for people staying in SolarCoin, the point of Claiming is to make money to pay for your Solar Panels so Claimers must sell at some point and get money and never come back in. By giving your coin to a merchant you will also reciprocate the same actions. The market is boosted enough to entice people to get out and there is so much coin just sitting there in large wallets doing nothing. You can't blame them for trying to distribute the coin too especially at this price, holding may take too long and they have to get in front of the 98Billion that will slowly trickle on their heads like a leaky ceiling.

Seeing the 98Billion coin may scare some of the people that may exchange their BitCoin to SolarCoin who may want to never go back to BitCoin. They are going to have to wait patiently for the price to go up just to use the coin. Using the coin makes the price go down since Merchants have to sell. Right now there is not many places to use SolarCoin so that is also unattractive to change out your BitCoin, but if there were many merchants and people used it they would notice the price would fall.

There are so many factors working against the market right now. Distribution, Claimers selling, Lack of Merchants or vice versa, PoST Rewards are minuscule to small wallets, Market Manipulation, and Large wallets gain more PoST rewards also and these wallets were the PoW benefactors. That is a big issue combined with not enough distribution, and a great value it is since PoW was very lucrative at the initial block rewards. Should these users get paid more than what the coin was intended for... Solar Claiming? As you complain that the price is not high enough, these large holders are overjoyed to be able to sell at these prices and get free money!

I really don't see the doom and gloom scenario CryptoNick. Solarcoin is just another form of barter. It's not always going to be necessary to turn it into straight currency.
