Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

This coin has been around a long time it's like a veteran it would be a shame to let it fade out. Can we fix the network and code and create a real work use to revive it?

the network runs fine, it just requires consistent hash rate from loyal miners. trouble is, there are no loyal miners anymore.

Hmmm well we need incentive out there for miners to mine it I suppose. Any suggestions I don't have a mining rig but I could build one. I was going to build an extra PC for rendering video when I'm not doing that I could mine. Won't be for a few months tho. A real world use would also be needed to drive the price up and 24 hr volume

I get runtime error starting the QT, any know fix for this?

i found the moment it finishes reading the blocks and about to start the gui wallet (and probably start networking to download new blocks) is when it faulted.
if i disabled my network connection before it finished reading the blocks, it started up fine. and then
re-enabled my network connection after the wallet screen is fully up.

i run "network activity indicator" tool in my windows systray, so doing network stop/starts is fairly fussless.

[bows] donations accepted Smiley

Since development seems to be dead, I will do the next update of the core wallet within the next few months.

I don't even know who is still interested in DGC. The last few times we attempted an update, it got sidetracked and didn't end up happening. The process will be much shorter this time and will include the necessities to restore proper function. The amateur code that broke the wallet startup and other such "code" will be removed.

If you are still interested in DGC, please send me a message and let's see what we can do. The good news about there being no real community: fresh start.

We still have strong Chinese investment and a long-term commitment to DGC from btc38, we should build on it before it's too late.

Is this some kind of sick joke?

What's the joke?

The last update was being planned on the DGC forum which is now inaccessible. That process was taking too long and not reaching any conclusions anyway.

Here is my plan:

1. I'm going to start a new DGC wallet branch that is independent. Development will be private, no community involvement. The code will be open source. I have all the resources I need already and will not be accepting any help.
2. Anyone will be able to use it and it will work with the current block-chain implementation and wallet.
3. Just to be clear, this is a private venture to develop and maintain an alternative wallet to the community one.

I will have a website up in the near future with the details.

The first release will just focus on creating a functional wallet with as many updated features from BTC source as possible (without forks).

Depending on the reception and adoption(mostly by Chinese users as they are more than 90% at this point), I'll decide on whether to put a soft fork up for the network to vote on. If the network does vote to pass the first soft fork, I'll make additional proposals to improve the network and they can either be accepted or rejected by the miners just like in BTC.
