Hello Everyone,

I'm wondering what will happen after the merge of Dogecoin and Litecoin happens? I understand that you will be able to mine one or the other or both at the same time. Can you mine both at the same time just as fast as you could mine one or the other? Does this mean double profits or just diverse profits? Also, can we expect a positive or negative change in the market for these coins? I'm assuming a positive one, otherwise the devs wouldn't agree to it. What are everyones thoughts?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I think this thread will get moved to the altcoin section.

Unless the communities for those two coins do more to get people to accept and use the coins, all that will happen is miners will now get two alt coins to dump for bitcoin rather than one.

I think it does help them both survive, but that does not mean they will be worth a lot in terms of bitcoin.

A great question lets track ltc price last 10 days  it is between 4.7 and 6.2 usd right now it is at 5.2 usd
as for dogecoin last 10 days it has run between .000022ltc and .000026ltc  right now it is .000024ltc

gaw-zen miners are doing some crazy things in scrypt right now.  huge money being tossed at them.  Frankly even though I put some money into them they make me nervous .  If anything will affect the scrypt coin market in any direction it is them not a dogecoin + Litecoin merge.

It's a poor solution that comes way too late. AuxPoW does not fix any of the problems inherent to PoW, meaning that this will not be the last hard fork. And of course it should have been implemented months ago (it was first suggested at the start of April), instead of keeping needless (damaging!) uncertainty going for all this time.
