It means that admin and mods think signature campaign is reasonable.

It can help btc business going on in this forum, why ban it?

So because you have an ad sig it is reasonable?

This is about 99% of the problem actually (there is no-one without an ad sig that isn't a newbie sock-puppet that supports your point of view).
-snip-
Considering that people are paid to wear a signature advertisement, basic economics will tell you that you are going to find very few people without a paid signature that does not support paid signatures. If someone has no issues with paid signatures, then there is no reason why they would not take advantage of the opportunity to get paid to 'wear' a particular signature. From what I have seen, even people who have made quite a lot of money from bitcoin (and appear to still have such money) (e.g. people who do not need the money) participate in signature campaigns.

You are essentially asking to find someone who would not accept money despite them finding it ethical for them to receive it for what they are providing.

What if there are people who don't find it ethical?

An economy based on endless growth is unsustainable.

Then they would obviously be against paid signatures and would not be wearing one.

Please find 10 Legendary Members that support ad sigs if you want to refute this.

Wow, are you really going to bring it up?
Let's wait a couple months until our current heroes reach legendary level and I'll find three times more.

Since all of you Legendaries had to register in 2012 or before, you had your opportunity to get cheap coins. I on the other hand haven't even heard the word Bitcoin in 2012, does that make me worse and not worthy of having a voice here? To me all forum members, regardless of their forum status are important, as long as they have something to add to the conversation.
If I had a chance to own Bitcoin in 2012 or early 2013 I wouldn't even bother with something as trivial as a sig campaign, so it's easy for you to preach from your high tower.

I'm sure you would find some legendaries with signatures if you wanted. I found 2 in the same thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=71158
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=29959

Another option is to have a signature like mine.

Just bitmixer and bit-x? You're missing a few. Wink

In the meantime you can disable signatures in your profile under 'look and layout preferences' > 'Don't show users' signatures.' BTW this option is probably going to be used to justify keeping signatures around. "Why you can disable it if you don't like it" they will say.

Thanks for the reminder. I've never seen a sig worth reading. I've turned all sigs off.

I think this is really unhelpful.  I'm not saying that fox19891989's comment was so thoughtful and inspiring, but if you're going to say this to anyone who has a sig ad, that pretty much makes you impossible to talk to.  Sorry.

Quote

@tspacepilot - forum rank is not the reason they post crap - they post crap because they are "paid to do so" (this is also why they love "arguing about it").

But we were talking about he fact that (for the most part) they don't get paid to post in off-topic.  Yet off-topic is a continual wall of nonsense.  Someone else retorted that they post in off topic to bump their rank so that they can join a campaign (nowadays, very new accounts can't get paid for sig ads).  Thus I suggested that perhaps disabling the ability to get activity points from off-topic could help.  I'm sory to repeat but from your reply, it seems like you missed the context of my remark.

I never said a single thing about the "off topic" board (who cares what gets posted there?).

This is the typical sort of response you see from an ad sig poster which is to avoid answering any direct questions and then try to change the topic (mostly because they are so afraid of losing their income from making useless posts I guess).

Then of course they always remind us "you can switch of the display of sigs" despite the fact it has been stated at least a dozen times "that does not stop the crap being posted".

There is simply no point in trying to actually ever have a rational discussion about this as their are far more ad sig posters (who have many sockies no doubt) compared to non-ad sig posters.

So don't worry - I'll be unwatching this topic shortly and the mods themselves mostly have ad sigs also (so they are your friends - I already gave up reporting pointless posts from ad sig posters as the mods decided to simply lower my report rating by disagreeing that pointless stupid posts are correct to report as such).

Not really crap I would say, the crap spam will depends on each individual as well , you an justify all of it to be a crap post, and not really arguing, just stating opinions which I know doesnt violate any rules on this forum, and also off topic or not, I agree most of the campaigner post low quality post all over the boards, this actually can be reduce if the manager strict enough to not paid for the post , this will discourage them to join the campaign as they spent some time to post " crap " and doesnt get paid in the end

But that is exactly the context of my remark, which you were responding to ("@tspacepilot").  If you're not interested in replying in context, isn't that just the kind of shit posts you're railing against?

I guess by "this" you mean my post?  If all you can come up with are ad hominem attacks on everyone who has a sig ad (and you're not interested in reading the context of what they are saying) then I thing you're not so much having a discussion as much as engaging in a rant because of your frustration.  If that's the case, it's probably best if you do move along because it's hard to see how rants are helpful for anyone.

I apologize if I'm misunderstanding here, but it really seems like your only replies are "this sux" to anyone who has a sig ad.

I have no idea why are you so are very angry about this matter. So believe that ONLY people without ad signatures are posting 'high quality posts' that statement is so logically wrong that I feel comment is not needed here. I feel that you are the one and only person here who have right to judge everyone else, and in your book if someone is wearing sig ad - well, he is certainly idiot posting only for money and spouting nonsense everywhere. Many signature campaigns have now high standards and only people with certain amount of "posting skill' can participate. DaDice's campaign is a great example of good signature campaign, managed by people who read posts of participants and judge their quality - so people are not posting any idiotic posts because there is no point if you want to get paid. I feel that you haven't seen any big internet forums out there - go check reddit's cryptocurrency section (it is huge!) and see if there are only high quality posts done by people with great knowledge - and guess what? They have no signature ads there...

Signature campaigns are disgusting. They destroy the forum.
It is really low to sell yourself out like that. Are people on here that desperate for pennies?

If I were running these forums I would definitely disable signatures.

If I were running these forums I would definitely disable signatures.

It would be a wasted effort.

The campaign participants would then just create posts that contained the ad in the post itself instead of in the sig.

Then they would be banned like the common spammers they are, and campaign runners would be banned from the forum immediately after creating their campaign topics.

Although, that would be against the rules. Advertisements in posts aren't allowed unless the post is really substantial and useful.

I do agree that signature advertising has become an annoyance and have reverted to using grue's approach and disabling them through external methods. I wouldn't be completely against the idea of removing signatures or putting more restrictions on them.

Because you have sex* for money.

*Edit: unwanted, gross sex.

Double-Edit: When's the last time you took the words out of a whore's mouth seriously? You want to be taken seriously? Stop being a whore.

Since you can buy and sell accounts like it was water, there's no reason to think you command any sort of additional respect just because your account is old.
