I'm a bit late, but congrats on the 5 years Doc! Cheesy

Sadly had to shut my miners down today, except for the 3 little trivial ones that don't matter much to me on power consumption. Here's hoping for $1,200 so I can turn them back on, lol. Going by the price today, you'd think nothing major happened. Huh

Let's hope when we finally get this block it doesn't turn out to be a stale one like the last time it hit 95%  Undecided

We had a DDoS attack today. UDP and ICMP flood.

The attack did not affect mining.

In case there are follow-on attacks, do let me know if you experience any connectivity issues.

After around 15 minutes of this post my miners automatically got shifted to my second priority pool.
And few minutes later it went back here.

I wonder if it is related to the attack or if you have restarted the daemon for your pool?
Are the same DDoSers attacking here as they did with other pools past month?

Doesn't look like there's been another attack of any significance, so it could be something else that got your miner to move around. Nothing's been restarted or down though.

I don't know if it is the same people - I haven't received any message from them.

A DDoS attack was slowing down the Bitminter website. Apologies for that. It looks to be responding quickly again now.

Also seeing DDoS attacks on mining servers.

10 Gbps of UDP flood and ICMP flood.

Should not have any effect.

Is there anyway to trace who's doing it?

Not easily, if they're half-way decent at what they're doing.

...WOW...

only a day or two now to make it to a 99%er

then after that we may go for the most difficult block ever

anyone know of one bigger than 1.3quad

With the huge swings of petahash from rented miners
of over 400%, this is starting to remind me of mining
on tripleming or small alt coins.  If we get the 15 pet
back again then all the shifts could be gone in a day.

Is it time to look at the shift system again to stop/limit
pool hoping, this isnt a huge problem here now, but wait
till this block is solved and see what transpires IMO

My concern is this is not just BTC it is also NMC we havent
had a valid block there for ages too not that NMC mean much
its just three huge blocks is more than strange

My antidotal evidence from my times of mining is the mining
gods dont like huge swings in the hash rates, it creates fluctuations
that very large miners/poolhopers can use to their benefits

Now hopefully posting my thoughts will work so I can eat humble pie
and be flooded with green tasty blocks

and congratulations Dr Haribo on making it 5 years

cheers
