Aye. At this stage watching percentage voting yes is pointless as it is purely going to depend on number of large pools supporting it rather than absolute percentage. If, and, as soon as, another pool supports segwit the percentage will jump up and stabilise with their hashrate percentage. So it's been static for almost a month since the same sizeable pools have been featuring in the yes vote.

May I propose a new feature?

Every miner should have the right to propose a transaction that will be added to the next block found by bitminter surely. So there is a chance to get a transaction into the chain that is waiting for a confirmation for a while.

Of course there should be limits for carrying out that possibility. Maybe you have to be active part of the pool for a while, one per month max or something like that. But I think such a feature could push the popularity of that pool a bit.

That's an interesting idea. It would be a very nice feature.

One issue might be that some would use it to scam services that accept zero-confirmation transactions, like some gambling sites do.

Another issue might be some people using this to push through their own low-fee transactions or even accepting payments from a third party to include their low-fee transactions. No harm as long as it would just benefit that miner. But it reduces what we earn from transaction fees from a block, so it hurts all the other miners in the pool.

If this was limited then the second issue probably wouldn't be much of a problem. Double-spending zero-conf txes is harder to do something about.

We use PPLNS with shifts, where the work in the 10 latest shifts gets paid when a block is found. Instead of paying each proof-of-work equally, the work is weighed by difficulty.

Let's say you do some work, then the difficulty goes up 5% and you do some more work. The work you did after the difficulty change will count 5% more towards your share of the coins.

hi and happy new year everyone

i signed in to test some of my gpu's with the java app and i'm a bit confused.

The first one is a GeForce 8600GT

the dial gauge says 4.27Mhps.

the lower right corner says 4277Khps.

that seems to match.

but when i float my mouse pointer over the lower right corner it says hashrate is in hashes per second.

so which one is correct?

4277Khps or 4277hps?

P.S. - my miner program says 8300Khps to 9500Khps which i know is way off which is why i used bitminer in the first place.

You shouldn't be using gpus to mine bitcoins. It hasn't been done in years. You will never earn any bitcoins mining direct. You should mine an altcoin and sell that for btc.

Fair enough. Not sure why as it's bitcoin related. You'll get different results mining an altcoin as the algorithm is different

GeForce 8600GT doing 4 MH/s sounds right. It's an extremely slow GPU that people would not mine on even in 2011. Maybe in 2010?

 A nostalgia visit, once had the 12th largest hash rate with S2's  a few years back, sold everything and moved on... but i miss it... dam!
so my question is what does the average mining rig look like now? which is the best miner? what is the average hash rate? etc

I know this was the best pool by far!

Best efficiency and hashrate is the S9 now. Avalon A721 is a very close second. Avalon has reliability but Bitmain has slight better stats. Hashrate wise it's between 12-14Th per machine. Size wise it's a 120mm each end with hasnbords contained in an extruded aluminium 120x120x300mm square tube (rough measurements).

The pool hashrate is just too low. The variance is going to be really high.
