Montreal is pretty nice in the summer. Back to mining I ordered a tremor paid for fast shipping and it is due to come to my home on Weds. I am impressed so far. I got it direct from trezor.io used a visa cc. paid about 155 usd That's a good deal considering resellers are trying to hawk them for $200 on Amazon. Is this your first hardware wallet? Yes . I have used core on my pc and on my mac mini. but never had a stand alone wallet. It's a great device, support multiple wallets

I may order more of them.

There was a failover + failback on the main connection stratum.kano.is (both servers) at 09:01 UTC Everyone on stratum.kano.is has connected back again, straight away and all ok again. Hash rate is back to normal now also. Just an aside regarding the DB work I've been doing on and off for the last 5 months - I've been running testing over the last week or so, of all the DB changes I've done, and should hopefully get that live within a week. These are the changes to the main key in all the DB code I've written (I've modified more than 1/5 of all the DB code) I'll give more details when I do the update, but the results of the changes will not be to see any changes when they go live, but rather that everything works the same. Most of the testing has been to ensure the new code produces exactly the same block, shift and payout information - which is of course what matters most With this redesign, it will be possible to do proper distribution of the pool with more small DB code changes in the future, vs the node hack that ckpool does that causes these failovers ... C'mon block where are you!

... and some more failovers. This time the DE node was restarted (yet again) by the provider ... DE outage was 6 minutes from 12:18 to 12:24 - as usual hopefully all the miners on DE have a backup - preferably NL Oddly enough there were 2 other failovers at the same time: NYA failedover at 12:20 UTC - but everyone reconnected immediately. The SiliconValley half of stratum.kano.is also did at the same time - but again everyone reconnected immediately. Clearly the servers are getting impatient for a block C'mon blocks! The DE node has been 'migrated' to other hardware, by the provider (without shutting it down this time ...) so hopefully that should stop the restarts that it's had a few of lately.

What kind of reward does one get when it finds a block? I'm new to the game but always hoping I will get my day at fame some day and be at Acclaim Board

What kind of reward does one get when it finds a block? I'm new to the game but always hoping I will get my day at fame some day and be at Acclaim Board There is no 'block finder reward' Everyone get's rewarded for how much work they've done for the 5Nd before each found block. A 'block finder reward' simply increases variance, and you have no control over finding a block - it's purely random. You can only increase the probability of finding a block, by increasing your hash rate. Another reason for not giving a 'block finder reward' is if small miners join and then leave 'if' they are lucky finding a block. The net result is more reward for that small miner, taken from all the other miners. Block finding luck is random, and giving people ways to take advantage of that is a bad idea for any pool.

Getting your name listed on the Acclaim Board is pretty cool stuff and we like to recognize those who make it. The real reward is being on a pool with a lifetime luck percentage of 103.43% (106.65% PPS) run by one of the best in the business. I've been around the block a couple of times and I've never found a pool that can hold a candle to this one.

I'm new but like it so far, now I need to find place to host all of my other miners.
The best prices are in Canada but they seem to be mostly full these days. I have all my 142TH/s with Toomim Bros in Washington State...their hosting fees are way lower than my electrical costs and they run a tight ship all around. As an added bonus, I no longer have to fight to control the heat and noise plus I can log directly into the cgminer interface on all 17 of my miners. I have a combination of S7's, S9's, and A721's and Jonathan Toomim and his crew do a great job with them all. http://toom.im/

The bad news is that they too are at capacity. I had pointed some people to them from another group and they mentioned this. I confirmed it with Jonathon. He said they had someone buy up all their remaining capacity. He didn't mention how long it would be until they expanded other than it was planned. Rick..
