Yep, or another way to put it is the expected per day block average here is currently 1.67 BTC/day.

Happy birthday carl! I suspect you've been hitting the sauce extra today as would be expected on one's bday... but I'm pretty sure you meant to say "1.67 blocks per day, not btc per day, right?  That would suck even worse than current diff and payouts presently are!  Cheesy
We'll let it slide this time, due to old age and whatnot, right?  Wink

Had some network problems at the Silicon Valley node that's part of stratum.kano.is

Problem started at 04:47 and failed over everyone on that node.
It has only just now been resolved by the provider - so it was on and off, affecting a couple of Petahash for almost half an hour.

Well this really sucks..
At this rate my mining op will not survive it's first months electric bill.
Very surprised to see this kind of variance with 90+ Ph..but the diff is a bitch ain't it.

The best thing to do in these situations is to PANIC...sell the kids...sleep with the rich fat chick next door for money for electricity bill.
Whining always helps..

Sigh ... for those new to mining ... a few things:

1) a little table of CDF statistics
Code:
 0.39346934028737   50.000%  1 in 1.6
 0.63212055882856  100.000%  1 in 2.7
 0.77686983985157  150.000%  1 in 4.5
 0.86466471676339  200.000%  1 in 7.4
 0.95021293163214  300.000%  1 in 20.1
 0.98168436111127  400.000%  1 in 54.6
 0.99326205300091  500.000%  1 in 148.4
 0.99752124782333  600.000%  1 in 403.4
 0.99872735771441  666.666%  1 in 785.8
 0.99908811803445  700.000%  1 in 1096.6
 0.99966453737210  800.000%  1 in 2981.0
 0.99987659019591  900.000%  1 in 8103.1

So e.g. 1 in 20.1 blocks is EXPECTED, on average, to be more than 300%

2) The CDF[Erl] says what the chance is of getting the same or worse result.
e.g. last months CDF[Erl] of 0.7642 means that you expect 1 in 4.24 months of 47 blocks to be 90.18% luck or worse.

3) Smiley
If you are mining at a loss when the pool is paying an average of 99.80% PPS like last month, you need to pick something else to do ...

I am mining at a huge loss, but have only been on the pool since Oct 1st.  I guess I picked the worst week in the history of the world to join.  Undecided  On top of that I have one S9 with 2 hashboards out for repair.  I ran out of hair to pull out.  At least I am well in the black.  Or, I should say, well into the GOLD, since I have converted much of the bitcoin I have mined into American Gold Buffalos.  Cool  My Antminers mine gold bullion. Cheesy

Ah so that is what that stat is for...
Gee whiz Kano you sure know how to cheer a new miner up..

Reminds me of a thing my dad used to say..
Cheer up things could get worse..
So I cheered up and sure enough things got worse.

I think I've got it wired, guys. Thanks for the responses. They were all good, PMs as well.

I don't know why I didn't think of telling you this before, since it's what I do.  Hawaii can't stop you from purchasing gold bullion with bitcoin.  I would gladly give you a link to a very reputable site that accepts bitcoin as payment for bullion and coins, but I saw Kano say that he deletes posts that have referral links. If you want the link, just PM me.  The one I buy gold from actually charges less for gold and silver if you pay in bitcoin than if you pay with a credit card.  Considerably less.  I feel that gold bullion in my hand is far better than dollars in the bank, but then I don't need a single dime of what I mine in bitcoin to make ends meet.  It's all "prepping money" for me.  I store half in bitcoin and half in gold.  I just got a Trezor, because I was starting to get nervous about keeping too much bitcoin in a wallet that can potentially be hacked.  As far as selling the gold back into dollars, that's easy, although you want to do it when you get the best rates.  It's sort of cyclic.  There are a lot of places in Honolulu that buy gold, but I doubt they pay the best rates.  I have thought about starting my own "We Buy Gold" business. hehe  The place I buy it from also buys it back, though at reasonable rates.  Overall, with the exchange rates, you may lose a little, but you also have the chance of making a little more.

No kidding!  Where is the emoji of rubbing greedy hands together and cackling?  Grin There is nothing I like better than gold.  I love gold.  Bitcoin mining has replaced my shovel and sluice for mining gold.  And I am not even exaggerating.  I sold my sluice.  Smiley

Thanks for the thought...but it's not about gold. I've had an account with a gold broker for many years, and they'll take my coin. Getting it to USD is the challenge, and Hawai'i's bozo board...oh, excuse me, banking board...is apparently staying up nights coming up with nonsensical regs to protect their fiat-based interests. I've got the USD thing fixed, thanks to Kano's info.

This is the place to get clear, honest answers to really important (at least to the asker) questions.
