Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I'm really glad we hit the double,  but I'm a little frustrated that I hit the wrong sign in button exactly one time and now I can't even see the stuff that I could see before I signed up. Maybe you could set the threshold for total blackout to a higher number,  like two. Once seems a bit unforgiving.
It's not once, and it's not the wrong button.
It means you mistyped something, e.g. got your username wrong or password wrong.

Bitcoin mining is like banking - lots of money involved - thus web site security is a top priority.

However the site is very aggressive as banning certain things, coz if it wasn't, the web site would be regularly dead due due to DDoS attacks.

However, PM me your account or IP and I can clear it.

Strange because I'm getting the "Too many failures, come back later" as well, but I never typed my credentials incorrectly.  ?   (Kano, I did PM you my details)

Why mining here works. I had a power outage on Sunday and it messed up my internet so I was disconnected from Kano for 2.5 days. In those 2.5 days we hit 4 blocks. Now because it was ramping down my rewards were a little less, but not nothing. Took a little bit of the stress out of being down for a few days. Im stoked to be here and am adding TH as fast as I can. Hope to find a block here one day. Thanks everyone and Mine On!!!

Currently I have one S9(13.5) running on Kano and I have room for at least one more S9 by my calculations . (I briefly looked at the Dragonmint 16T but the extra cost for the power doesn't seem worth it to me)  I do wonder like most, if something will be released soon that would make me wish I waited a hair longer but I'm not a patient person Wink

I'm not the best with technical electrical conversions so please anyone if you are, let me know!

I had a dedicated 220 outlet (12 gauge wire) ran by an electrician and he added a 20amp breaker.  I think my current S9 is roughly 1400 watts which in turn translates to 7 amps.  He said the wire is good for up to 25amps so we could swap the breaker out if needed.  I'm pretty sure I can easily add at least one more miner to my stable for Kano.

The more efficient the power supply you use, the higher chance of you being able to run 3 on 220V 20A is.

First - are you sure its 220V?   Current electrical national electrical code for single phase is 120V/240V   I always see 235-240V at the wall.  Three phase or really old electrical co-ops will/may give other, lower "2 leg" voltages.  It makes a difference in your case:

Lower voltage:
1400W / 220V = 6.36A then (3 x 6.36) + 2.0(10% of breaker size as safety factor) = 21.08 amps  )-:

Higher voltage:
1400W / 240V = 5.83A then (3 x 5.83) + 2.0(10% of breaker size as safety factor) = 19.49 amps (-:

As you can tell - you could run three WITHOUT changing the breaker if it is 240.

Couple of caveats:
I am not a electrician
Only you and your electrician know if this actually makes sense for your circumstance.
If you upgrade to 25AMP, make sure your plug is rated for 25Amp too.

Hope this helps!

The voltage will go up and down w/weather conditions in colder climates, plus you are going to lose 5-6% in even the best power supplies.  My numbers are actual amps read right at the breaker...3 miners is "pushing it".  I also don't know what a 25 amp plug looks like, I've only seen 20 and 30.  If such a plug exists that would be cool, is there a NEMA # for it?

Sorry if this has been answered before but on average how many hours after the block we get the payout sent?

Exactly, that's the precise reason why 5nd ramp up/down works!  Just because of that, he wasn't currently mining but still got paid!

It takes 101 confirmations before the payout can be processed (true for all BTC blocks mined, not just ours) and the average time per network confirmation is 10 minutes each.  Once the payout is queued up it the transaction has to be confirmed by other pools and if not it will be confirmed by the next block we hit here on the Kano pool.

Ja. as I said earlier today
Quote
This is where the 5n comes in very handy -- despite dropping about 100THs for 24hrs my N avg rate (what ya get paid for) only dropped to 287.85THs vs 298.73 before the outage.
In my case power is never a problem as the miners at home are fed by always on-line UPS's from Cyberpower and Tripplite to hold over until my whole house LP gas genset kicks in about 20sec after power fails.

This has been the first time the DSL has ever been down for more than a few min at most and even that is rare.

DE Node Update

I've replaced the DE node with another provider (AWSLS)
The old DE node is still running and anyone mining to it will continue to do so ... until ...

I'll force a failover of all the miners on the old DE node ~8 hours from now (23:00 UTC)
What this means is that any miners on the old DE node will simply failover from the old DE node to the new one.

If you connect or reconnect any time between now and then you will end up on the new node.

This only affects miners on DE, and will only be a failover if you are still connected to the old node at 23:00 UTC

Mine on! Smiley
Just a reminder this will be 8 minutes from now.

Done.

The user/worker count has now all switched over to the new DE node and within 5 minutes the miners should have completed their failback to it also.

Is there a way to see what has been paid vs what has been earned as
https://kano.is/index.php?k=mpayouts
shows a number of 'transactions' which have never got to the blockchain (prob due to the amounts individually being small)

The old payments page was the same - it didn't say what had actually been paid - it was generated data from the rewards page.

Amount too small = dust = less than 10,000 satoshi - that was simply hard coded for the payments page.

When I complete the new stuff it will also show the transaction related to each payout you get - it comes from the blockchain, not generated from the rewards, so there's no way for it to be wrong, other than a bug reading the blockchain Smiley

Hello, again, everybody.

First of all, a BTCig Thank You to blok, jimmy, and sidewinder!!!! Way to go with the Triple BTClock Humpday!!!

I just wanted to remind everyone that the deadline for entering the 2nd 1TH-4-5Nd giveaway is fast approaching!! 23:00 UTC, today.

~
Amount too small = dust ...
~

Don't let this happen to you! Help me help you beat dust!! Send me a PM with your Kano Pool user name now to enter this round of the 1TH-4-5Nd giveaway!!!

I'm happy to report that Igor and Billy have been able to get the mice back in harness so we can do this next round. I've been trying to get the licenses for the bigger mice. It's always a PITA dealing with a bureaucracy.

I have to tell you, there are exciting things happening on Kano. Is(land)! Lots of folks have more efficient gear, or just moar gear coming in. At least one of our sponsors has been able to keep pace with the current increase in diff, so there should be at least one thing going on every week, at least for a little while.
Make sure you keep up with this thread and social media. I may have a couple of tricks up my sleeves, and I'm not the only one here that believes in the concept of Pass the Hash.

For now, from the sun-dappled shores of Kano. Is(land), I'm K.P. PasstheHash, reminding you to

MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!!!
