Got my new ledger s wallet, old one just upped and died.  Was wanting to make sure my syncing worked as I don't see the last block we hit in there yet.  I know it's coming, and may be stuck in the mempool but wanted to make sure if others saw it in their wallets or not.

It's not like it's a ginormous difference, but it's important to get Noobs like me make the switch. Berating them seems counterproductive.
Oh, it's not just noobs.  Anyone that uses nicehash should be berated.

I had to buy BCH to get my S9's from Bitmain. Since I purchased and was waiting for delivery to my wallet, they then added BTC and LTC to the mix. I hurry and offloaded the BCH I purchased at $641 to Bitmain at $761 thinking I did pretty good by waiting a few extra days. Now BCH is over $1100 damnit!!! This was just a week or so ago. Shitty thinking what I could have nearly doubled my buying power in that short amount of time. Just goes to show you how unpredictable things can be.....even when it's painted on the wall.

Oh, well. The first couple of S9's are up and running and the other 2 should be here shortly. Now.....let's crack this BTClock !!!

Sadly, I'd only be out of Dust Range for the time you'll be adding hash, and ~4TH/s will then be back to dust - wouldn't want to deprive Scoob of useful Snax Smiley

Welcome to the world of speculative trading!  It appears Bitcoin Cash is on a bit of a ride due to their May 15th bump to 32MB blocks (and other tweaks).  That comes across to me as 100% headline grabbing only news... their current average blocksize is just 75kb, 1/10th that of Bitcoin.  There is no way they need 32MB blocks right now... its just PC to have them.   If you haven't come across is, I highly recommend looking over http://fork.lol - tonnes of good data there comparing BTC to BCH.  One note on the charted "Profitability": it presumes you could mystically sell block reward coins immediately, at the price each coin had at the moment the block was found - not after the required 100 confirms, nor after your wallet received them, and you sent them to an exchange, or the time it would take you to place an order and have that order fulfilled.  Basically, to really have a useful profitability metric, you would need to be able to predict the price and market demand for each coin at least 100 blocks INTO THE FUTURE.  Then you could decide what was most profitable.  Keep that in mind when considering any profit-switching alternatives to Kano.

Yeah, I was merely pointing out that if I waited a few more days, I could have doubled my purchase. I only bought the shit because at the time it was what Bitmain had as a payment. Speculating is not my game, save it ccgllc.

I sent my scout into kano pool to check out the math.
I was a skeptic.
Kano pool wins.
It's complicated,  but with the 5n value and the fees I'm doing better on average compared to nicehash.
<snip>

It's not like it's a ginormous difference, but it's important to get Noobs like me make the switch. Berating them seems counterproductive.

It's perfectly normal to be skeptical, when first coming here. It's natural to analyze every detail, of the longevity of profitability.  At some point every single one of us has been there. It's important for us to do the "homework", and have a better understanding of HOW Kano's Pool, is a better option, over the long haul. It's the "waiting it out to see" that alot of miners have a difficult time with. Naturally, while creating our "plan", we want to see numbers we simply cannot see......yet.

The difference you mentioned, is not ginormous, as of Yet. We are making some very good headway on gaining more Hashrate. As I, and others, have mentioned before, the higher the Hashrate, the more frequent we will find blocks.

Here's where EVERYONE can make a difference in their own profitability:

That space you have that's not for rent,(signature space) tell the viewers of your posts where YOU mine. Maybe they'll ask you your experience with Kano Pool, and join themselves. I've personally had this happen through PM's, and those people are members now.

Tell other miners you know outside of the forum. Word of mouth, can go ALONG way. The more people who join, the higher the Hashrate will become, and make YOUR profitability even better.

Seize the moment!!! Make YOUR Profit what YOU want it to be!!!

It's unfortunate that I am unable to express here in words the way I feel about you. A logical and reasoned response would divert the thread.

The reasons for not using nice hash are well-known, or should be.
  • They were acting like a bank.  That bank got robbed.  They screwed their depositors.
  • Their fees are outrageous.  Fees on the miner side, fees on the renter side, fees to transfer.
  • Rented hash pointed here is believed by some of us to have contributed to the pool's longest block drought.
  • They lack all transparency on payments

With these reasons in mind, those who are behaving badly by using NH should not be encouraged to continue doing so.

Instead, you are encouraged to continue mining here.

Well... EXCUSE ME!  We had a member posting about how BCH had risen.  I responded on why, and how its likely just being pumped now, and why other pools deceive people - ending it on a pro Kano note.

If you don't mind, how about leaving the moderation comments to Kano.

Maybe this was interpreted wrong. At first read, it appeared as if you were promoting BCH over BTC and suggesting it was more profitable than Kano. I'm certain that was the only reason for any sort of "hostility"

EDIT: Yep, just went back and read it slower and I understand what you're saying. My mistake on the way I deciphered it the first time. I can't speak for Megaquake, however.

Good Friday evening, Miners!

There are all kinds of neat things happening on Kano. Is(land)!

I told you that I had seen Shaggy (SHAggy?) and Scooby out and about.

Round two of the 1TH-4-5Nd giveaway continues apace. I've got 1.035 TH/s on the dashboard atm.

I'm still shocked at this one - there's still about 4 hour and 20 minutes left on the delivery of the 420-on-4/20 giveaway. I swear I did not plan this.

And there's more....

Billy Miner was doing what he does in the back of the cubbyhole today. He calls me back and shows me a hole in the back wall. That wasn't planned.
I turn to call Igor, and there he is, just over my shoulder (How does he do that?) He looks at the hole, then gets a glimpse in the hole and gets the biggest grin on his face.
Apparently, the cubbyhole backs up to a small, abandoned laboratory of some sort. We can't get in, yet, but Billy keeps on chipping away, true Miner that he is. I'm almost proud of that boy.
I don't know what is in there, yet, but this could get ... interesting.

Well, the postal current swung by earlier. Apparently, one of my import permits was granted; there was a crate with a 9-kg rodent in it.  Moar power!  I'ts a crying shame I only have the one, 50-meter, 18-gauge extension cord - or I need to move the power plant. That'll be fun.  Roll Eyes

Keep an eye on this thread. I'm sure there's more insanity where this came from, and there may be more giveaways, too.

In the meantime,
