It's too late is already the next day.

What we really want is the next one to come just after these three mature.
Or sooner Smiley

I would rather trade a well timed block that covers all 3 payouts for one more block. Kano is paying Cheesy

That would be crazy luck. 22ph should avg just over 1 block per day. If we could hit 3 blocks every 2 days at this difficulty we would be doing amazingly well.

Great luck lately  Grin  Nice to see the fat chunk of a block too!

I guess as the commercial use of BTC increases the fees will be larger in volume and miners can make a living off mining the fees (when block rewards halve and halve into nothing).  Also presuming a much higher BTC value.

I am struggling to find some information out.  I have been wondering about the asic chips in relation to a mining machine.  Is each chip doing its own thing or do all the chips in a machine work together to collectively create a nonce?

I'm pretty sure each core in each chip is doing it's own thing.  Otherwise you couldn't map out the bad cores and continue mining with it.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

Actually - if one chip fails, it doesn't matter if a work item is divided up so each chip is doing a part of the nonce range, or if each chip is doing a full nonce range of work.

Each hash has the same chance of finding a share or a block, even if you don't mine the full nonce range for each work item.

The old icarus code is a good example of that, where it's a case of working out the time to complete a full nonce range and send it new work before it completes and goes idle, thus it never actually completes the full nonce range.

So the answer to the original question is ... that's up to the manufacturer how they do it and it doesn't matter Smiley
(Edit: as long as they count hashes properly to display their hash rate - but that also wont affect the pool displayed hash rate which will not be affected by a miner counting issue, if it had one, when chips 'die')

So if I am solo mining and I have 2 machines then they are fighting against each other really. They are both doing their own thing completely ignorant of each other.

I guess I am not understanding how a pool actually works then.  Is this where the 'shares' come into play?  Are all of our individual machines sending our best shares to some overlord node server or is something using all of our hash power combined?  Ie some communication is there to use all the hash power for the combined good of the pool?
