If anyone wants me to hold their payouts - they can request it (but send an email from your pool account email address to the address you get pool messages from)
However, the held payouts will sit in your dust fund until I do the dust processing code, some time in the future, in a galaxy far far away.

Also, tell me ASAP, coz once I've created the payout for any block, which is before it matures, I'd have to redo the payout from scratch to change anything, and of course once it's matured, the transaction is out on the bitcoin network, so I certainly wont be trying to double spend it, to change it.

It's not an on, off, on, off, on, off thing I will be doing, just a once off thing now you can request over the next few days, then later request it back on again.

Edit: OK added a link to here, on the web site also.

So far so good with Coinbase. But they will temporarily stop accepting deposit on Aug 1 and I am not sure when it will resume. I just wonder where the rejected payout goes.
I have set up Electrum on my machine in case. But I do prefer Coinbase since it's only a few blocks from my office Smiley

Hi Kano, I wonder if the payout from Kanopool to Coinbase is rejected, what will happen to the payout? Thanks.
If Coinbase rejects your payout, then they are not accepting Bitcoin.
So you have a rather major issue with them then.
If you think they might stop accepting Bitcoin then don't use them.

The Coinbase transaction stoppage is only for a few hours. Supposed to be 4 to be exact.
Ya know, Coinbase covers all this in their UAHF/UASF FAQ and that is better info than people just guessing about it.
In short they will temporarily suspend withdrawals, purchases, and exchanges -- nothing said about not accepting direct BTC deposits to wallets.

The message from Coinbase is "...will temporarily suspend BTC deposits, withdrawals, and buy/sell starting approximately 4 hours before activation of either fork"

So it's at least 4 hours plus Aug 1. It does not say when it will resume transaction. Am I right?

On a related off-topic note, Bitmain is also suspending BTC as payment.  Received this in an e-mail from them today:
Quote
We will stop accepting any Bitcoin payments from 8 AM on 31 July 2017 to 8 AM on 3 August 2017 (GMT+8). If we receive any Bitcoin payments during this period, we will not be able to confirm receipt of the payment until the end of this period. Although we plan to re-open Bitcoin payments after 8 AM on 3 August 2017 (GMT+8), please wait for our confirmation message before sending any Bitcoin payments to us.

Like I said other pools you can either get paid every block or let them accrue and get paid when you want, if
something on your site said that if you dont have a wallet address listed, your payments will go to the dust
account, then I would definitely not have mined without an wallet address

Like I said its not life threatening, and getting sorry for taking up your time now

cheers

[/quote]

Sorry for chiming in so late....catching up reading on many pages.

Welcome to the pool, Bigsky!
I think you'll find that this is, by far, the best pool anywhere - best pool operator (he can be brutally to the point at times, but that's also what we love about him), and best group of miners.

Regarding your Pineapples in the dust bin, just think of it as a CD or an IRA account. It's a forced savings that you can't access yet, but as Bitcoin increases in value over time, you'll be earning "interest". Since Kano said dust payment code is now #2 on his list, you will get your payment sooner than folks who have been generating dust from day 1. No one can say exactly when Kano will get the code done, but he will and you will def get paid because, if there is one thing for sure, Kano is as honest as the day is long.

Happy you are here. Enjoy the pool and mine on! Smiley

It is a good point  if it takes 1 year  and coins raise from 2500 to 5000   he did you all a favor.

Hell back in 2012  when I would hit a 50 coin block  once every 2  months  (6 x 50 = 300usd at the time)  it would have been nice if I had left one alone Till now.

Just spit-balling here...instead of holding individual payouts by request, why not simply hold off on pushing the txn's of any blocks we hit on the 30th Through 1st to the pool?  Once the forks (if any) are resolved, push the txn's to the pool for our next block in line.  It should only be 3-6 blocks to deal with Smiley

It only affects Washington state? Not sure whether or how it will affect hosting service.

For now it's only exchanges in Washington state but you can be sure it's going to expand.  There is just way too much money in BTC for the government to ignore it.  That's why I keep my coin in a hardware wallet not connected to the internet. Grin

I will never have a pool as code writing is not my skill set.
Yeah but I have no idea who uses what random web wallets/exchanges and what silly rules some of them will come up with.
We'll be mining on the mainnet and if some of them decide to switch to some other coin there's nothing I can do about that.

Exchanges and wallets do strange things ... like blockchain.info saying our payouts are too big ... or bitpay regularly tells me my transactions pay too small a fee even though they are often confirmed in the next block ... some like to come up with their own random crap rules that you can just ignore Tongue

The reason for the "Hold Option" is if you are using some wallet or exchange that does something completely stupid, you can wait and see what they do for a few days before you decide to either change your payout address and re-enable it, or leave it where it's already going and re-enable it.

Personally I think there should be no problems, but the option is there for anyone (unnecessarily?) concerned about their BTC Smiley

Though if you were on some pool that used the block's coinbase transaction to payout, you'd have no choice Cheesy

It's still a few days away, and to be blunt, I'm not really sure what the concern actually is.
Pretty much all the mining hash rate is using the equivalent of core's 0.14.2, so if someone decides to fork off some alt-coin with a few PHs or even 100 PHs vs the network's 6,200PHs - that's like stupidly insignificant and not even worth worrying about.

I guess just make sure you aren't associated with any wallet or exchange doing something stupid Smiley

...

I may hold back a few payouts around/before 1-aug and send them a day or two later, but not for lots of days, maybe one or two days at the most.
I'll decide on the 29th and let everyone know then.

I mine here with avalon  coins go to a block chain info wallet
I mine with s-9's on f2 pool  coins for to a block chain info wallet
I mine with  gpus at nicehash and zpool coins go to two blockchain info wallets

I simply have been moving all m coins from the 2 blockchain wallets into a core wallet  that has 4 backups.

I earn around .04 coins a day right now  between all mining.

So if there is a meltdown it will be under .1 coins on two blockchain info wallets.

I don't see the core wallet melting down  and it will be off line  from July 29 to Aug 2.

Here is message from BTC.com in case that someone is using it. I used it before and now I will am going to use it for the next few days.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On August 1st the Bitcoin fork called "Bitcoin Cash" or "BCC" will likely be introduced. For more information about BCC, check out Bitmains recent blog post.

If the fork is successful you will automatically have the equivalent amount of BCC as the amount of BTC stored in your BTC.com wallet.

At the moment, the BTC.com wallet does not support making transactions with Bitcoin Cash nor displaying a separate balance for it. We are, however, offering a tool to allow users to extract Bitcoin Cash from the BTC.com wallet using the PDF wallet backup.

Alternatively, you can leave your Bitcoin Cash in your BTC.com wallet and extract it at a later date. Regardless of your choice, you can feel confident that all of your funds will remain safe as you continue making transactions. For more details on this topic, head on over to our blog post.

It only affects Washington state? Not sure whether or how it will affect hosting service.

The gov should only tax on trade profits, not on hard working labors Smiley

Hawaii did this to Coinbase back in January; Coinbase liquidated and dumped all their Hawaii customers. I always keep at least two [reputable] exchanges in my pocket, though.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

I pulled all my coins into a core wallet.  Despite there being "nothing to worry about" I'd rather be safe than sorry.
