Howdy! You'll have to send Kano a PM with your IP address. If you have too many failed log in attempts, it will lock the IP.  It is a security feature of the pool to keep us safe from hackers.

Hashing is pseudo random ... transaction numbers are truly random ... it's all so random that it's pointless trying to find any sort of pattern.

There are no patterns to find in mining.

Old habits of trying to find an advantage are hard to break.

surprised ppl keep getting more machines online though the profit non existent now for those who have to pay fer electricity assuming the machine life of 2 years.

I pay .14kwh,  and made  near $200usd, at current BTCprice, the last 30 days. Recently went to a buyers consultation for Solar. If all goes smoothly, I'll be hooked up by summer.

Edit: the cost of Solar is .05kwh in my case. And after its paid off, obviously free.

yes some places are definitely cheaper fer electricity but for Americans it must be getting to be a lost cause in most areas. here in Canada its cheep as dirt but still takes a year jst to pay for the s9

Some people can mine at a loss, for future profits.  Don't look at it as a short-term solution, think of 1-2 years down the road.   That said, if you can't afford your electrical bills now, you have to do what you have to do.

It's best to let the pool decide, unless you want to lower your network usage and if you have hundreds or thousands of miners.

The total network usage of a single miner is so small that I don't think anyone could save money changing it, unless they had hundreds or thousands of miners - and in this case you'd be best to use a proxy anyway which will reduce it down to the equivalent of a single miner.

Looking at your worker page - since I can - that high invalid % is due to when it connected, it had a single stale share.
Note it says you submitted 41 shares, but the stale % was 2.318% ... and 2.318% of 41 is approximately 1

I will add that, looking at the statistics at 41 shares = about 2 minutes of mining ... which is not very long at all.

I reposted that right after we found a block, if you scroll back just a touch you'll see I posted stats from the shift prior as well.

Right... Never heard that one before.  Mining hadn't come to a halt or even slowed down due to previous halvings.  And I doubt it will happen in the future.

I agree with much of what you said in your original post; however, I picked out the above phrases to highlight an eye-opener that I've recently realized--granted, I'm still new to the whole payment exchange process--that led me to believe there are already third parties involved that seem to be the gatekeepers to the freedom you speak of.

For example, I just ordered my first hardware wallet, and let's say when I get it that I don't ever want to use the company who made it to handle my transactions--or any other company or that matter... What can I do? How can I single-handedly send you some Bitcoin without that or another third party being the middleman used to propagate that transaction to the rest of the Bitcoin network? Is there a way I can sweep my mining proceeds into my hardware wallet and buy something online without involving a third party? I'd love to know a simple way to do this.

Also, if Bitcoin isn't the digital equivalent of handing someone precious metals, then aren't we still headed the direction of a cashless society with Big Brother watching, tracking, and data mining our every move? This does not sound like freedom to me.

Just a couple of things that stood out...how do you see any third party involved if you're sending BTC from your Core to theirs? It doesn't go anywhere other than the tx network itself. Even if you're paying for something online using Bitpay or that other new(er) service (read as with Newegg, Hostwinds, etc.) they're only providing the exchange service to the seller, not you (you're not paying a premium yourself to use the service).

Seems the nexus of this is where you store your coin...which subject accounts for at least a couple of hundred pages on this board... ...which is about the only place a "third party" comes in. Some of us whom have been around since the white paper (and before Mt. Gox) have pretty strong opinions in that area. Reader's Digest version...your own Core on your own computer is the safest, IMHO.

have to start by switching to monero since the nsa already has btc tracking well in hand. create your own wallets (may need to learn some programming but some are open source) the real problem is getting everyone else to use the crypto as a currency since without demand it has no value (ie if u cant by a loaf of bread when u need it it is nothing)
