We are not very interested in how many miners have gone. It is much more significant that we have to wait for a block for 10 days ... Which is very annoying these nowadays...

My post should be viewed as a regret about the current state of this pool.  Sad 40 PH is veeery feeww.......

And our payout for this morning's block is 3.5 times larger than it was in October!  Funny how it all works out... Grin

..and why it is only 3.5 times higher and not 6 times higher?

Um, because the pool payout hash rate is still ramping down after that big miner left... 5n PPLNS remember?

Umm, and what was the point of strangely cheerful comment then?
The 'nice' combo of low luck and low price sucks, and I don't see any reason for the celebratory mood when current luck (one, two, three mo) is still low.
Tell me when that changes.

That will likely never change. Those large miners that left with a deficit to the pool didn’t stick around to see it through(good luck period)  to even it out to near 100%.  Pool hoppers(impatient miners) inadvertanly punish the loyal miners

You are right, low luck and low prices suck and I can't control either of those things.  That last block was faster than expected at 80% which is a win and the pool N average was such that we got 3.5 times our normal payout so that was also a win.  Small victories are welcomed in today's environment.

Maybe I misunderstood your comment to be like all the other "dog piling" we've had to endure lately. Assuming it was a legitimate question, I imagine you got the drift of fuzzy's answer, so I hope that helped. What he alluded to is actually one of the great parts of PPLNS:

Whoever owned that yuge amount of hashpower didn't forfeit all the rewards they worked toward over the past 5Nd up until the point that they left. They just get smaller and smaller rewards the longer they've been gone--until it becomes zero, of course. On the other hand, we get larger and larger rewards since our individual hashrate becomes an increasingly larger portion of the block reward the longer they've been gone.

Before you know it, our rewards will be 6x what they were, but they'll be 6x as in frequent. Sorry if that feels like it has a negative connotation, but as one of our miner's sig says "math doesn't care about your feelings". Ha! Grin

You know, that is a great point that I hadn't previously considered. A larger "piece of the pie" plus a change in luck will have a significant and positive affect on our wallets!

MINE ON & OUT-LAST THE FAIR-WEATHER MINERS! Grin

Edit: After a recent re-read, I realized some may take offence at my sign-off, which I would like to express some regret about. I am sorry that some of our miners have had to turn off their farms due to the combination of the BTC price drop and a streak of bad luck, and I do hope things turn around so our friends can fire back up their mining operations.

I just noticed in the shift graph page that the time is off by one hour in respect to the graphic itself and the time lines. The rightmost part of the graphic should be the current time, but that is marked two steps behind in the time line (assuming one step is half hour).

I think it takes about an hour to update the chart.  The chart represents 40+days of data so it can't move but so fast Smiley
