Nice block! Not sure why my block % dropped by 1/3rd within the last 5 minutes of the block being found. Scratching my head on that one... Guessing the pool takes a 33% fee  Cry

No, it was that big miner 16vV8 with 240PH that came on the pool for 24 hours that made all of our block% drop.  His work counted as well and the pool only takes a fee of 0.9%.

When he (16vV8...) was live, his large hash rate dropped my block % significantly (as with everyone else's block %), which makes sense. When I looked 5 minutes before the block was found and right after the block was found the difference there was about a 33% drop. I've been focusing a lot more attention to Kanopool for almost 1 month, but I just can't wrap my head around this issue - hopefully Kano can chime in sometime and give some clarification to me.

The other thing you have to understand is this payout included all the work shifts for the past 5Nd (back to Jan 9th).  The average pool hashrate over all those shifts was 75.16PHs and your block% for this block was based on that.  The Block % you were seeing on your Workers page is your % of the pool hash rate average only for the past hour each time you check it and is not the complete picture of what goes into the payout.  One hour is microscopic when you look at the whole 5Nd time span.

EDIT:  The Block % on the Workers page just gives you a current snapshot of your percentage of the current pool hashrate but you cannot estimate your payout for our next block with it unless your hashrate and the pool's hashrate stays exactly the same over an entire 5Nd span.

EDIT 2:  Another way to think about it is to take the average of your Block% for every hour from when the block was hit all the way back to January 9th and you would have a more accurate block% that would approximately match your block% as shown on your Account/Rewards page.  There were several big miners in and out during that time which had an impact.  That's what each shift does but they are approximately 50 minutes each.

The 5Nd is straight forward.
As it says on Help->Payouts, your part of each block reward is your % of the work done in the last 5Nd - so that's pretty straight forward.

However, the pool changing hash rate is a different issue, that usually gets discussed when luck is low Tongue

If the pool hash rate is 400PH then we expect to find 8 times as many blocks per week than if it was 50PH
So when luck is 100% you will get 8 times as many rewards when the pool is 400PH than when the pool is 50PH
But those 8 rewards will be 1/8 of the reward when the pool is 50PH

However, nothing is ever that clear cut, since the hash rate changes, and the luck changes every single block.
How many blocks we do find is random, and the pool hash rate will not decide that.
You can't predict when the next block will be found, so you can't tell in advance if your next reward will be better than expected (< 100% diff block) or worse than expected (> 100% diff block)

Help->Luck explains what to expect.

Edit: On the Workers page your "Block %" is your % of the work since the last block we found.
That % is not 5Nd unless the block we next find is a 500% Diff block (which we certainly hope it isn't)

This was a bad luck block, and I guess chances are now higher for a good luck block to come, but nothing is certain. Only in the long run its going to average back to 100%, 1 month isn't enough, you need to see +1 year...

And now the pool is back to 50ish PH/s.

Technically, if you have at least an Avalon 741, you should currently earn "~ 0.00218995 BTC" per week @ 100% diff blocks! Grin

I have a feeling you were looking to get paid for the signature, though. Thankfully, Kano doesn't take away rewards from the miners to pay for such advertising... Obviously, he doesn't need to (see sig). Wink

Actually I was thinking yxt could do it out of his own pocket, he supports what he likes after all Smiley
For a large miner wanting to promote his favorite pool, that isn't so far fetched. And his sign does look like a campaign signature, so it was more a praise than anything.

Yea, but each shift you had shares in are in the 5Nd bank and you'll get paid a portion of it with each of the next blocks until you get paid for all of it. Smiley
