All but one of my chunks are greater than 1 seed. If I only stake with the less than 1 amount by setting the reserve amount to the whole number, what does that do to my chunks if my fraction were to stake? I'm more curious than anything, and depending on when the wallet update comes out, this may be a moot point.

Yes, you DO have to keep on top of this one. Fortunately, nothing staked while I was sleeping Wink

so did you end up locking your wallet? I think it's wise to state not too follow this thread to closely as well... I was watching all this unfold very closely and I ended up downloading the latest wallet last night on another computer and sending all my little chunks as one big transaction to my 2nd wallet (after recommendation from some users) and well now I'm being told that anything over 1 seed isn't staking... so now I'm again at a stand still waiting to find out what to do.. I could have just kept them all on my first wallet, in little chunks.. and not lost the pos for the first day.. what a world lol

Right now I have it staking but with the fraction left over after I entered the whole number as my reserved balance. So only 0.8 or so is able to stake.

Yesterday evening, most of my chunks staked right on schedule, like seconds after they matured, and they did it at 269 percent (or actually a close estimate). So I was figuring things were humming along just great. I had two more chunks due to stake at midnight. When I got up the next morning I saw that they hadn't staked at all but were still trying. Then I read the thread and followed Cryptzo's instructions, and that's where I'm at right now. I just got lucky. I could have had my last two chunks also stake sometime this morning at a much lower rate.

I had consolidated a number of my small chunks while I was still mining. I figured I'd end up with a lump sum from the pool, but I had some technical difficulties with my miners and got out of mining earlier than I'd planned. So then I was pretty well set up for the growth period, but because I'd staked fairly late during the 1 percent period, it wasn't for a good 12 hours or more that anything staked for me during the growth phase, and it was in those initial hours that we had to quickly upgrade to version 1.0.4, so I kind of skated past all those problems as well. All my experience having to delete and replace wallets during the early days of NXT benefited me here, as with just a few instructions I was able to get new wallets online, synced and working fairly quickly.

So... for those who aren't doing quite as well here, keep in mind that the experience may prove to be an invaluable benefit when the next opportunity comes up for you. Keep your chin up, roll with it, and learn as much as you can.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

As long as it's not another hardfork at 5am I'll be happy

I'll be happy if the next "fix" doesn't break something else. This is getting ridiculous.

Maybe the next wallet should be reviewed by a third party before it's released. What about the PinkCoin guys that were so vocal at the beginning of this thread. Help your buddy out!
A working wallet was a requirement of the ICO, and they were the escrow. Just sayin Smiley

Could we take a snapshot of the blockchain, that way if the next wallet is botched, we could roll it back and try again?

Somebody is losing precious stake every time the wallet has been changed. Continuing this current trend is unacceptable.

The calculation of total of 6.5 mil seeds will be wrong and it will be much lower coin supply, because as opus stated, when we have been staking first time more than 1 seed in growing period, we didn't get 2.69 time reward (269%), in my case it was 13% and I guess there is more like me.
Another thing is, that when you not staking all your coins, the reward is 269% of what was staked, not 269 of whole amount in wallet, so coin supply may be less than 1 mil in the end.
[Edit]
Plus I have another wallet on different PC with only small amount of seed (0.003) and even the coin has 1700+ confirms, its weight on the network is so small, that it states I will stake first in couple of days, again, lower coin supply.

it looks like 2 of the top 5 wallets staked for the very, very low rate...

although its good for everyone else, really not good for them and not good to really upset some of the coins largest investors. There's going to be a lot of upset people and FUD happening in this thread today.

It means that the total coin estimate just dropped by about 570,000. (those 2 wallets were 309 coins total, and should have been 1143 by tomorrow, but basically stayed at 313 by tomorrow)

On the other hand, considering the history, someone with that much invested really should be paying closer attention. This newest bug has been known for hours now.

OK, I am confused. I had 1 seed in my wallet before the last wallet update, I earned 269%, my seeds confirmed after the new update, but then my wallet said my coins are immature for staking. So when can I start staking again

I was thinking this also.  If you have that many coins and had seen the other issues you would be watching this thread closely to make sure everything is going smoothly still.

Todays 2.69 times stake on all coins was important to get the coin supply over 1 million, so if every big wallet staked only a bit, or they withdrawn from staking, supply wont grow over a mil.
[Edit]
Question is, how markets will react on those information after 6 days.

Yeah, it could take a while... Hopefully the new wallet will be ready shortly.

Ok, so now I have 5.3  coins in my wallet, but I'm only staking .4 ? Can anyone explain to me why i'm not staking more than this? I've had 2 seed in my wallet for the past 3 days. I updated the wallet again yesterday, which didn't alter my stake age. So if anyone could explain to me what I need to do to get max returns that would be amazing.

Ok everyone, it's not all doom and gloom if you staked already. Waiting until the change takes effect carries a significant risk, and people that choose to wait to stake need to decide what they want to do.

Here's the lowdown. If you wait until the change takes place in a little under 13 hours, then you're taking the risk that you'll be able to get your last stake in before the end of the growth period. You will get roughly 1.7-2x your 269% if you wait, BUT you'll LOSE 2.69x at the end if you can't get in that last stake.

I've already made it clear that my testing showed the last day tends to run a little short BUT we are currently about 10 hours behind schedule and I've never been able to test full scale, so I can't say for sure when it will end.

People that staked already, or choose to stake now WILL DEFINITELY STAKE ON THE LAST DAY.

People that wait until the fix takes place will have to take the gamble that the last day wont end too early for them to get their final stake in. That is the choice each of you have to make, and I don't honestly know which is better for sure.

On start of the latest windows binary 1.0.5 from your post I have error message: Error loading blkindex.dat.

Copy your wallet.dat and peer.dat put them in a temp folder. then delete the seedcoin folder. reinstall the new wallet and paste your old wallet.dat and peer.dat file in the new directory. It depends on how much effort you want to put towards this clearly, fucked up released coin. sorry dev, but this is a gongshow.
