Why bother with BFGminer?

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

Most probably they reached they reseller quota and they will be up again in a few hours.

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:
Bitcointa.lk - Replace "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum (Announcement Thread)
Hashfast.org - Wiki for screwed customers

Tom said Friday that they were launching a new website and it would include some new specs for the boards and such.
So we should be seeing it pop up soon hopefully!

Why bother with BFGminer?

Because the dev of BFGMiner(Luke-Jr) has been contracted to provide support for Tom's products. cgminer(from what I've read and understood) was slow to pickup support for FPGA devices, so Luke-Jr left the cgminer dev team and forked the code and has been maintaining it in parallel with cgminer, with his own tweaks and code, concentrating on FPGA devices for the community. There is a rivalry between Luke-Jr and the cgminer dev team, because they don't like that he's forked their code and is now "treating it as his own."

I see no problem with this, it was OSS to begin with. if they didn't want anyone to be able to use the code and fork it, they shouldn't have made it open source. That's just one humble user's opinion, however.

You can read all about in the cgminer thread.  To all appearances, the bulk of what's in BFGMiner comes from cgminer.  It also seems most people don't have a high opinion of Luke-Jr because of his elitist egotistical attitude.

That said, it's hard enough to tell what's real in RL; on the internet, it's next to impossible.

Oh I've read all about it, you can see some of it here in this thread and over in the BFGMiner thread, too. I see elitism and ridiculous comments coming from kano and ckolivas as well, so I don't think either side are "innocent"

I don't use CGminer because I just like BFGMiner better(plus there are a few minor interface tweaks he's made that I prefer, in addition to the best MMQ support out there).

Not your fault, it was my fault for forgetting a word. I fixed it above.

Hey thanks to everyone who has called me and let me know about the hosting outage. I honestly just woke up - going to investigate this now and see what happened.

Nearly all my websites are hosting through my own hosting company BTCWebHost.com so I am sure all my sites are down like this - do not worry I do daily backups of the customer order database.

It's likely no big deal, and it sucks it happened right now because I was in the process of launching a new web site on a new server.

Well lets see what happened and I will report back.

Thanks

lmfao

Its no big deal,

Web site will be back up today, it appears that when they went to auto-bill my CC - the bank's fraud protection went off and disabled the card (this happens to me a lot my bank is ultra paranoid)
so the invoice went unpaid for like 5 days and I didn't even realize it - my hosting provider is kind of lazy - they didnt even realize it either - the system just auto suspended my account today.

Anyways I just paid the damn thing for a year up front.

Sorry for any confusion this may have caused

Not that I've been on every thread here... but those that I have, I've never seen anyone except LJ say anything bad about the cgminer team, and I've never seen anyone stand up for LJ.
