Big plans, that's cool.  That's actually what I am planning right now, starting with a dedicated 200A next week and another 200A in a few months.  Then I'll see.  Electrician is coming next week but first I have to install some infrastructure (utility pole for the new electric line, underground wires, etc.) It is an exciting project, and with summer coming, wife, kids and friends starting to complain about the heat, I have no choice but moving my miners out of the 4 houses I'm using right now for all of them.   Wink

200Amps of miners will be crazy hot , i have only 60Amps and the heat is insane , my 2nd floor gets to 89 degress when its only 50-70outside

The two 200A panels won't be here in my home, the noise and heat would be intolerable.  I found a place that I rent on a farm, some kind of huge garage with no isolation and great ventilation, where I will install my little mining farm.  A farm within a farm, isn't it poetic?   Grin

Sounds great!!!

What are your electricity costs per kWH?

Around 0.07$ per kWh, which is ok but I wish it was 0.04$ per kWh like in Washington.  But up here in Quebec, temperatures don't get as high as down there.  Hydroelectricity is cheap and temperature is cool, ideal for mining.  Smiley

And women are hot.  Wink

There are places in Washington where power is less than 2 cents a kw/h.  I'm working on renting out part of an old fruit packing plant right now just to host my own farm, even with rent it'll be WAY cheaper than running them in portland where its 13 cents a kw/h

Yes, 3 counties are like that.  However, one of those counties has a moratorium on anyone requesting more than 1 megawatt at one location.  That would be Chelan County Washington PUD.  I'm looking at another county.

Yeah, its been a real issue, I got tired of dealing with the PUD in Chelan and Douglas and started looking for buildings with big power that were empty.  Old supermarkets, factories, packing plants etc.

Since you are a farmer on a farm you should be able to take part in the IRS tax cuts for farmers!!!  Cheesy

LOL!  I wish.  I actually wouldn't even try asking... Wink

Anti-DDOS function?  Huh What the fuck!?

How about fixing voltage control and the J7 hashboard which is constantly overvolted to 0765 and completely uncontrollable??? That hashboard increases power usage by a lot, costing each and every S4 owner more electricity than a properly working S4 would and killing potential profits!

BitmainWarranty, can you please get us more details other than something something DDOS and improved minerlink? How is something improved that wasn't there in the first place, BTW? Guessing this FW adds it.

yes.. anything under 70C is pretty good.  Are you sure it's hashing at 55C?  Wink

What's your ambient?

Its in my house in an empty office so Ambient is about 65F, screen output (on the front) says 55C. Running latest firmware and the fans are of course at roughly the speed of light.

That's way too hot for such a low ambient temp. Check for dead fans, dust, etc. I had a unit that reported much higher temps than normal, I had to change the hashboards to keep the fans from running all out. It was a good 20c higher than an S4 sitting next to it at the same settings. You can also use --bitmain-homemode to reduce fan speeds.

I guarantee that if you have 4 working fans and it isn't clogged with dust, at least 1 of your boards are reporting incorrect temps.

Ok, re-imaged the SD card and the update worked this time. Firmware seems to run a few GH/s faster, and minerlink has been added.

Now to bust out the DMM to see if the voltage is "fixed".

But at least your S4 is safe from DD4BC?  After BMT's encounter with the ransom this year, I would assume that was put in for their own farm's protection, not ours.  Removing voltage control, well that was removed for our own protection  Roll Eyes They haven't learned yet that people cannot be saved from their own stupidity I suppose...

2cents /kwh sounds too good to be true.  We pay 10cents here in the midwest, god knows what it will jump to in the summer and I refuse to turn on cenntral air to cool the basement this year.

I would be making a killing at those electricity rates but im basically stuck here since I cant move.

Ok just got an s4. I turned it on an it blows the fuse. the surge protector is rated 1850 watts. I noticed when the s4 is running the fan 1 and 2 run at 1500rpm while fan 3 and 4 run at 3600 rpm. as long as im not mining it doesn't blow a fuse but as soon as it gets up to full seed it blows a fuse. I'm going to try to plug it in the socket where the washing machine is hooked up to but it should be able to run on this outlet so i doubt that is the case any imput would be appreciated. I'm also going to upgrade firmware then underclock. crossing my fingers. Could the fans be malfunctioning? this is a preowned s4 anyone have the watts with corresponding voltage.

Fixed the problem faulty surge protector. You can still change the MHz frequency it runs at. I haven't messed with the voltage i read the psu's are weak on these units. At first i thought i got gypped was going to leave a nasty feedback on ebay turns out it was on my end. I was able to run at 168.75 M but as soon as i got rid of the surge protector and connected directly to where my washing machine was connected it fired up with no x's no blown fusses.

Um that's bull I hate that companies lock things down. They should just have a system to void warranty if you do change those settings. In the miner advanced config. menu  it says you can change voltage though but im not sure because i haven't used it.  it's false advertising too on bitmain because they do show a chart of under-clocked settings when you buy the unit and dont mention you cant under-clock it so i would be careful you do get a class action lawsuit heading your way. That would bring a hit to profits. lol Now a days it's best not to mess with your consumers too much.

Forget about undervolting, bitmain has disabled voltage control starting with firmware released on Jan 29th. If you want to undervolt and underclock, you'll have to use firmware from Oct. 16th.

The S4 should run on either 120v or 240v. You shouldn't be blowing fuses.

Hey do you know of any good mods that out for this. I know that nicehash has cgminer 4.9 available. I heard of a fan mod but seems dangerous and do know why people would want to lower fan speed would be nice to increase it to keep it cooler. A quiter fan would be nice but not at the cost of heat ruining the unit.
