I think we will see full blown commercials about bitcoin during the Bitcoin bowl in florida on Dec 26th. Bit-pay is the sponsor, so im sure it will be bit-pays commercials that we see about bitcoin. But most of the hotels and other venues will accept bitcoin in the area of the bowl game. I think that will bring the most exposure to date regarding BTC. Its only a few months away.. I believe the full name of the bowl gami is Bitcoin St petersburg bowl..It will be ESPN!

Id be very surprised if we go thru the entire BITCOIN bowl without one commercial about bitcoin... I can guarantee you that there will be commercials about bitcoin. They didn't pay for the rights just to have the name. Every time i watch a bowl game that is sponsored, I see tons of commercials regarding that sponsor.. Papa Johns is a good example.. They have a million commercials about their pizza during their bowl game..

Unless the sponsor accepts bitcoin and States that it accepts bitcoin. That could count right?

Imo TV is the thing that we don't need and I hope that Bitcoin will destroy it somehow.

I was thinking.. I know TV adds are expensive but I can see it now. If the word got out to the masses, those that havnt heard of bitcoin or those that think its gone after the crash.
Is that even possible? theres tons of startups spending $ on BTC technology, surly one of them could afford a 60 second slot or something..
the only way we will ever see $10k is mass involvement, BTC must be a household name. The most effective way for that to happen has always been TV.
I may be way off base but gimme your thoughts either way.
Not as add of bitcoin itself. But add of economy building around bitcoin. About 2 week sago. my mother asked me about bitcoin. i was so surprised. But she saw on TV, was in evening news, of one BTC conference, that was hosted by national telecommunication distributer, and of opening of 4th ATM in out capital. Those are better commercials that those classical.

You would have to wait 10 years from now to see something like that. By that time Bitcoin will rule one third of the worlds economy and every channel will telecast not just adds but talk shows and many more.

Not a tv add but on the NBC show "The Blacklist" (Awesome show, btw) Reddington, who is one of the main characters had a computer guru to move a lot of money from one account to another with out being detected with a gun to his head, he had just seconds or a minute or so to move i believe 5 million dollars, he succeeded with just seconds remaining. When Reddington asked how he did it, the guru spoke really fast and the I really only caught 2 words, Ripple and Bitcoin.. So he moved the 5 million anonymously using ripple and bitcoin. Ill have to go back and really listen to how he did it.. but bitcoin is being mentioned in the media. In one of my wifes book that she just finished reading talked about bitcoin.
Also, in a few months, we will see a lot of adds regarding bitcoin.. The "Bitcoin" bowl will take place the day after Christmas.. So, you will see it before the end of the year, at least on ESPN...
+1 On the show "Justified" a man steals money from a US Marshall and a bunch of other people and coverts it into Bitcoin so it's untraceable. This is fiction LOL, plus any transaction in fiat (that involves bank accounts) will likely be traceable to the person who stole the money. I do, however think that mentioning bitcoin in pop culture would likely be more effective of spreading awareness of bitcoin and it's uses then an "advertisement" as people tend to pay more attention to the content of TV shows and movies, why people tend to try to ignore commercials. What's fiction? the TV show or the untraceable part? Either way I disagree lol, as long as you never turn the cash back into FIAT I think it can be untraceable (to your identity that is)

Oh wow this is great! What network do they air on? I am in the UK so if you have a way to record and upload it, I am sure all the non-US Bitcoiners would be interested to watch

Right now all the people who have their projects related to bitcoins want to reach out to the cryptocurrency community.
Maybe in a few years if more and more people get to know BTC and getting a mainstream thing there will probably be some casino advertising on TV.

Either way I disagree lol, as long as you never turn the cash back into FIAT I think it can be untraceable (to your identity that is) Bitcoin is very traceable. You can easily trace the route that specific inputs take throughout the blockchain. Several people have done this with some of the coins that satachi had spent. Even if you do not turn your bitcoin back into fiat, your identity would still be exposed whenever you would spend your bitcoin on some good or service, as the merchant would need to know who to ship/provide the good/service to. If you deal in large enough amounts then even a mixer cannot break the connection between two addresses that you control 100%

I just saw in newspaper, add, of some Government agency (National press agency ), and among some words on their poster was also bitcoin. among words like internet, innovation, technology, ... It is not directly of BTC, but i guess will be also same on TV. Bitcoin is mainstream in many countries already. Well they are aware of it, and will try to get as much out of it as possible.

If and when Paypal fully integrates BTC into the normal wallet when you log in online, I could see them including BTC in a commercial or something like that.
Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I still don't think there will be just a BTC commercial, because no one would recoup their investment on the adspace. It will have to be a company that has chosen to integrate BTC and it will be that company's commercial (with a BTC cameo)..
