I was away recently and had reason to receive funds. I did not have access to my desktop to acquire a new Electrum address so just reused one that has received a bitcoin deposit the week before. I am pretty sure this is okay but I have always used a new address.

The sender was not able to use the exchange I usually purchase coins through as they where unable to access the bank. However, they did purchase some coins off an alternative exchange that receives bank transfer.

I am used to my bitcoin exchange sending through the coins in like half an hour or so. The sendee forwarded me the purchase info and it had the correct address that is already loaded with last weeks transaction. The exchange request was finalised about 16 hours ago. I am yet to receive any acknowledgement that the coins have been sent to the address. Not even an unconfirmed transaction.

The exchange website states that coins will be deposited within 2 to 4 hours.

Is the exchange slow?

Or did I muck up by sending to the same address twice?

I'm thinking it is the exchange.

Will I wake up tomorrow, check my wallet and breath a sigh of relief?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes I know, I'm a Noob!

Reposted here as the reddit seems a bit slow to respond.  Thanks.

You can reuse addresses. You'll find the address under receive tab> main account> used.

Thanks for your reply. I was pretty sure but now I am confident to chase up the exchange.

Any bitcoin address used or not can be used to receive funds any number of times. If you still see no transaction in your address then it means that the exchange has not yet pushed the transaction. Ask the exchange to provide you Tx ID of the transaction if they're saying they have sent you the coins.
